May 23rd - 27th

The Last Week of May....

Hello Krew,

Wow! Time flies when you're having fun. I can't believe it is already the end of May. We have exactly 3 weeks of school left this year.

There is a super fun week ahead with Kindergarten graduation and music show on Tuesday night and the Night of STARS on Thursday.

This Friday we have a half day inservice coming up. I think we will meet at the DC but I still have to confirm. Look for an agenda by Tuesday. At least part of Friday will be a review of our MAP data. I will be updating the Student Growth Folder this week.

Great job this past week to all the staff on getting through MAP testing. A big thank you to our coaches for all their help.

Thank you also to Chase and Hannah that organized an awesome Inspiration Ed Camp for our 5th grade students on Friday afternoon.

Habit 5 - Seek First To Understand Then To Be Understood

Often we think that being a good listener is just something we should do or maybe more often something someone else should do. But listening just like anything else in our lives requires commitment and practice.

There was a great article last fall in Scientific American on How To Be a Better Listener You can click the link for the article. It describes 4 helpful tips on better listening.

1) Check Your Assumptions

2) Get Curious

3) Suspend Judgement

4) Know When To Tap Out

Listening is key to understanding between any individuals or groups. And being able to understand is key as demonstrated in the hilarious video below.
