Welcome Back to School!

We are very excited to welcome you to the 2021-2022 School Year! My name is Stacy Foshee and I will be serving as the interim principal for the Cubby Bears. With twenty years in the field of education, having taught in both rural and urban schools I'm thrilled to be serving this community in a leadership capacity. I am a person who values building partnerships with a variety of parents, caregivers, and community members and welcome all who are interested to join our Parent Teacher Students Organization (PTSA).

As a Title I school, our prioritized needs this year include embedded professional development for staff members, positive behavior support, and effective tiered instruction and interventions. We look forward to seeing you at our family engagement nights and hope you will join us for our "Meet the Teacher" night Monday, August 16th from 6:00-7:00.

Just a reminder that our school board voted in June that masks will be optional for students and staff. If this raises any concerns for you or your child, please feel free to reach out. Covid protocol information for the district is available. Also, there is a daily wellness check for families to use. We will: Be Cautious, Be Courteous, Be Clean.

  • The Joyful News will be circulated monthly to help keep you informed about happenings at our school. You can also stay in touch by following us on Facebook and visiting our website.
  • Celeste Burns, our Attendance Secretary, can help you set up PowerSchool. This will ensure that you can see grades, report cards and that your contact information is up to date.
  • Teacher Communication: Seesaw App, emails, phone calls, face-to-face visits, and more. If you want to spend time in the classroom, just confirm a good time with the teacher. There is a sign-in at the office.
  • We are always open to ideas and suggestions to help Joy improve. Contact us individually or by clicking the "Let's Talk" link on any website page in the district.
  • It's best to schedule a meeting with Stacy, the principal, as she is always popping in and out of her office & can be difficult to catch. Amber Zellweger, Joy's Administrative Secretary, can help you with scheduling the meeting.

This year meals are offered at No Charge to all families, however we still need for you to fill out the application to maintain current information that will assist us in our Title 1 funding for the next school year.

We are a Title I school, which is determined by the percent of students who qualify for free and reduced lunch. We receive additional federal funds that provide supplemental academic support for our students, additional professional development, and increased parental involvement opportunities. If you would like to learn more about our Title I program and the resulting funds or give input please contact the school office

USDA has provided a participation option through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) which gives us the ability to offer Breakfast and Lunch at NO-CHARGE for the 2021-2022 school year to all students enrolled in a school that participates in our NSLP program. (i.e. if your child attends an FNSBSD school that has an NSLP lunch program, they get to get 1 no-charge reimbursable lunch & breakfast meal per day.)

The Wellness Check is intended to help parents, students and staff understand the district's expectations of what students or staff should do if they are not feeling well.
