News from Mrs. Diggs
Patriot Families,
As we embark upon November, we have multiple reasons to express our gratitude. We are so thankful to have the privilege of teaching and learning alongside the absolute best students! In classrooms, we have observed students engaged in problem solving while explaining their thinking. In addition to academics, we are extremely thankful for the many ways that our students have demonstrated kindness as well as empathy. Moreover, we are thankful for teachers who challenge themselves to routinely meet the needs of individual learners.
Speaking of gratitude, thank you so very much for helping us attain our goal of raising $12,000 for building classroom libraries to support our Readers' and Writers Workshops as well as updating technology. Your support and donations via our Patriot Boosterthon Glow Run have helped us not only meet our goal but crush it! While we are still waiting on final numbers, we have been informed that our students raised over $16,000. We are extremely appreciative for each of the donations you were able to secure as these funds will directly impact all students here at Providence Elementary. Be sure to check out our Patriot Facebook Page for photos, live video and all around fun that our students and staff experienced during our Patriot Glow Runs.
This month, we will continue to focus on GRIT as we hold conversations and write about our current Patriot Focus Book, After the Fall - How Humpty Dumpty Got Back Up Again, by Dan Santat. We will be specifically honing in on discussing Resiliency and Perseverance as it relates to our learning and everyday life. We encourage you to hold conversations with your Patriot about ways they have faced challenges that have required them to be resilient while persevering. As you review student work on SeeSaw, be sure to ask your Patriot to share specific ways their work required them persevere. Mrs. Weiper and I are looking forwarding to sharing specific examples of Patriots who have demonstrated Resiliency and Perseverance throughout this grading period.
I am truly blessed to be able to serve our students, staff, and our Providence community. If I can be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me by calling the school at 940-369-1900 or via email at jdiggs@dentonisd.org.
With Patriot Pride,
Jairia Diggs, M.Ed.

Patriot Emergency Operations Update
As you are aware, our campus has a Patriot Emergency Operations Plan that allows us to reflect upon ways that we keep our students, staff and community safe. We want our community to be aware that we recently had the opportunity to practice an evacuation drill where each of our students were escorted off-campus by staff members to an alternate location. This drill took approximately 15 minutes from start to finish. We would enact an evacuation in the event that our building (i.e. - concerns with HVAC units) presented an unsafe scenario for students and staff. Thank you for continuing to hold conversations about ways to remain safe with your Patriot learner. We truly appreciate your partnership!
