National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
September is recognized annually by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. CDC reports that suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States, and suicide rates in the U.S. have increased about 33% from 1999 to 2019. If you are in crisis or know someone who is, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL) at 1.800.273.TALK(8255) or text the Crisis Text Line (text HELLO to 741741).
National Archives Hispanic Heritage Month Site
We celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15) to recognize the achievements and contributions of Hispanic American champions who have inspired others to achieve success. Employment Opportunities

- Update for Parents of Students with Disabilities: The District is continuing to seek ways to fill the program teaching assistant vacancies in several of the Special Education programs. At this time, vacant positions are being filled with substitute or temporary staff. The Transportation department is working diligently to cover all bussing routes for in-district and out-of-district placements.
COVID-19
- Metrics & Reporting - Weekly metrics of positive and quarantined students and staff are reported online at www.sd308.org/metrics. Metrics are now available to view by building.
- Any positive case of COVID-19 or close contact with a person positive for COVID-19 should be reported to the district as soon as possible. You can find the reporting link on the district homepage, or by visiting www.sd308.org/reporting.
- Symptomatic students should be kept home, and their symptoms reported to the attendance line at their school. It is recommended that all persons experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 be tested or evaluated by a medical provider, if not tested or released by a medical provider, they must stay home for 10 days.
- Masks - Required for ALL Persons: Per the Governor’s Executive Order 2021-18, masks are required on all persons inside school buildings and on all buses per the CDC Transportation Order. Universal masking per the order, as endorsed by the CDC, IDPH, and ISBE has been included in SD 308 Board Policy 7:165. Persons without proper use of a face mask will not be permitted to enter a school building or bus.
LIHEAP Energy Assistance Program
The Kendall-Grundy Community Action Services, a division of the Kendall County Health Department, is pleased to announce that funds are available for heating assistance through the federally funded Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), and state funded Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP), to assist income-eligible households residing in Kendall and Grundy Counties with their energy bills (natural gas, propane and electric bills) and furnace assistance. Safety Expo
Rep. Mark Batinick is sponsoring a Outside Children's Safety Expo on Saturday, September 25th at Plainfield Central High school in Plainfield that will run 9:30am - 12:30pm. View the event flyer here.
Early Childhood ONLY - Make Up Attendance Days
A plan of how to make up the five Early Childhood instructional days lost at the beginning of the school year due to transportation issues has been finalized. Please See Attached. There will be two (2) in-person days on November 11 and May 27 and three (3) remote instruction days (on the School Improvement Days) Oct 8, Feb 18, and Apr 14. The schedule for the remote instruction days will combine morning and afternoon sessions. If you will need to borrow a device from the district for the 3 days of remote instruction, please click here. Please note that each time a device is checked out for a remote learning day, it will only be borrowed for the one (1) day and must be returned after the remote learning day.
