Important Dates:
End of Marking Period 1- November 7, 2019
Report Cards Viewable in Home Access- November 15, 2019
Parent presentation: “A Parent’s Guide to Teenagers and Substance Use”: Thursday November 21, 2019, 6:30 PM Murray Avenue.
Parent/Teacher Conferences- November 26 and 27th, 2019 (Parents will be contacted by teachers via email to schedule)
Thanksgiving Break- No school, November 27-November 29, 2019
Keystone Testing Window- December 2nd-13th, 2019- Literature exam will be on December 3rd, Algebra will be administered on December 5th, and the Biology test will take place on December 9th. If your student is testing during the winter session you have received or will receive notification in the mail. All students have been seen to begin their remediation plan.
What's Happening
In addition, our 9th grade students will be have education sessions concluding their relationships unit offered by the Laurel House the week of November 11th and November 18th.
We are incredibly appreciative of our relationship with Nicole's Place and the Laurel House.
Mini Thon- November 22, 2019
LMHS Mini-THON is November 22nd from 10 AM to 10 PM. If any parent is interested in chaperoning, please fill out the following form:

The Climate Reality Project
Guest Speaker: Jesse Lytle, the Chief Sustainability Officer at Haverford College, will be speaking to students about climate change on Wednesday, December 18th.
2:30 PM in the High School Library. All are welcome.

Yearbook Information
Parents of seniors, please pick your child's yearbook photo through Barksdale by December 15th. Remember, seniors receive a yearbook as part of their class dues, so there is no need to purchase one. You can, however, purchase a yearbook ad. The link for purchasing ads for seniors will be posted on the high school webpage.
Senior Portrait Make-Ups need to be scheduled by calling Barksdale at 1-800-220-7667. Please have these take before Thanksgiving to ensure that your yearbook photo is submitted.
Parents of underclassmen, you will soon be able to purchase a 2019-2020 yearbook for your child. The link for purchasing yearbooks will be on the high school webpage.

FAFSA Completion Help
To help Pennsylvania families complete the FAFSA® PHEAA has partnered with PASFAA to conduct FAFSA Completion Help Events from October through April. These sessions are free to the public. Review the FAFSA checklist to view a list of the documents/information that families need to complete the FAFSA form.
PA State Grant Application
To be considered for a PA State Grant, students must complete the FAFSA. First-time applicants must also complete the State Grant Form (SGF), which gathers additional information needed for determining eligibility and financial need. The PA State Grant Form User Guide is available for your use in assisting students as they complete the SGF.
Military Family Education Program (MFEP)
Check out PHEAA’s newly launched MFEP webpage to learn about the program’s eligibility requirements, application process, and more.
Red Ribbon Week
Recently, LMHS celebrated Red Ribbon Week - the nation's largest drug prevention and awareness campaign. On Thursday, 10/31, the staff wore red to raise awareness about the vaping epidemic, and School Counselors were in the cafeteria during lunch periods this week to hand out resources to the students about vaping.

LMHS PTA does not have a monthly meeting in December. Our next meeting is Monday, January 13, 2020. Save the date! The LMHS PTA February meeting/lunch at Eastern Center for Arts & Technology will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020.

The students in the cafeteria enjoyed pumpkin treats last week, especially the Pumpkin Cheesecake and Breakfast Bites with Pumpkin Seeds. Stop by the cafeteria on November 14th to celebrate National Guacamole Day!

Our end of the year sports banquet will be held on Tuesday 5/26, 6:30 @ the VE Club. All athletes from grades 9-12 will have free admission. Admission for parents is $30/person, non athletes and siblings - $21/person.
