The multipurpose room is used for both breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is available from 8:45 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. Breakfast will not be served after the 9:00 a.m. bell. For the 2021-2022 school year, breakfast and lunch are available at no cost to all students. Parents please make sure that if you would like your student to eat breakfast that they are here at 8:45 a.m. so they have time to eat and be in their classrooms on time.

The District will provide free school meals to all children 2-18 years of age through the 2021-2022 school year. Meals will be distributed under the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) guidelines outlined by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The Food Service website, ccsd.net/foodservice, provides CCSD's nutrition policy as well as the approved snack and beverage list. The site also links to the digital platform where the school menus and nutrition details can be found: ccsd.nutrislice.com. It also includes a link to myschoolbucks.com, where it is possible to add money to a student’s meal account for á la carte purchases, and view what items your child has purchased.

Special Diet Renewals At the beginning of the school year, please review your student’s special diet with the school’s Health Office. The forms to renew, update, or discontinue a special diet may be found at https://ccsd.net/ departments/food-service/special-diets.

Halloween Information

We will celebrate Halloween on Thursday, October 28. Students will celebrate with parties in their classrooms, and may wear their costumes that day. In order to keep our students safe, we ask that you follow the guidelines below:

  • Costumes must be worn to school - school staff cannot help students get into their costumes.
  • Students must be able to wear their costume inside or outside, at recess, at P.E., etc.
  • Students may wear face makeup, but it must be applied before they get to school. also, simulated blood and/or gory costumes are not appropriate for school.
  • No weapons are allowed. Please have your child leave all fake guns, knives, etc. at home - these items should not even be brought to school.
  • Masks cannot be worn during the day, but students can bring them to wear for pictures.
  • All costumes must be dress code appropriate.
  • The school is not responsible for costumes that are lost, torn or damaged while at school. Remember that students can be very physical during recess and P.E.

Due to COVID protocols, we will not have a Halloween parade.

Please plan to join us that evening for PTA movie night!

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ

Please remember that, due to COVID safety rules, cupcakes are not allowed at school this year. Any treats that are brought to school for birthdays, class parties, etc. must be store bought and individually packaged. This was communicated in the Parent-Student Handbook at the beginning of the year.

Bus Information

Students who ride the bus must adhere to all safety guidelines. Kesterson ES staff are receiving increased reports of our students failing to follow transportation rules by engaging in disruptive and/or distracting behaviors, removing their masks, and consuming food or beverage on the bus. Students who do not follow the rules may be issued bus citations by the CCSD Transportation department. Citations can result in the temporary suspension of bus services or loss of riding privileges for the remainder of the school year. Please review bus behavior expectations with your student.
