SBDM Interest!
The Mata Montessori Site Based Decision Making Committee (SBDM) is comprised of school staff, parents, and community members who serve in an advisory capacity to the principal.
SBDM members hear regular updates and provide feedback and advice on a wide range of issues related to school functioning. We seek to collaborate closely with the other schools in our shared feeder pattern, with an overall goal of helping to improve the educational experiences of all children in our community.
Our committee now needs one additional parent or community member. If you are interested in joining the SBDM as a community or parent member, please submit your name and contact below, along with a paragraph explaining your interest in serving in this way. Please indicate whether you are a member of the community at large or a parent/guardian to a Mata student. Please note that new members cannot be a DallasISD employee or a family member of a current SBDM member.
We request that you submit this self-nomination by Nov.9. The SBDM committee will review and vote on new membership on Nov. 16.

Congratulations to our Teacher of the Year!
Mrs. B. Vazquez is an extraordinary teacher, taking her students to new heights in learning. Students look forward to coming to school. Mrs. B. Vazquez not only provides amazing lessons to students but provides so much knowledge to her fellow team members and other teachers.
Mrs. Vazquez is a teacher who gives her heart to teaching. She makes learning exciting and interesting and creates experiences outside the classroom for students to connect their learning to real life. This past summer she went above and beyond to take her students to Washington, D.C., and extend their learning of US History. Additionally, Mrs. Vazquez takes on roles as team manager for Destination Imagination, ESports, UIL, Lonestar, and Legos. Additionally, Mrs. Vazquez created a school-wide initiative to have every 2nd grader participate in Destination Imagination. Many of these kids continue to remember this great experience. Mrs. Vazquez is a teacher who goes above and beyond in every aspect. She has been a great mentor teacher who shares her learning with others. Through her endeavors, she has received the admiration and respect from students, parents, and administration.
