Jag-Wire Weekly Parent Update, January 10, 2022
Every Jaguar A Reader
We cannot do this important work without YOU! If your young child is struggling to learn his letters and sounds, or if you older child is struggling to decode words in text, please contact your child's teacher. We want to partner with you to help your child develop a love of reading.
IMPORTANT Update regarding COVID-19
First, as a friendly reminder, internal COVID-19 data is tracked weekly by school and that data is
entered on an Auburn-Washburn scorecard that is released every Friday. Based on data
entered on the scorecard, masks are strongly encouraged in schools when COVID-19 incidences
are below 5%. When COVID-19 incidences are 5% or above at a school, masks are required
when indoors until the percentage drops below 5% in that school for two consecutive weeks.
We will continue to track, report, and take action on COVID-19 and Test to Learn numbers each week on Friday. Based on the Auburn-Washburn Scorecard this week, masks will be required when indoors at the following schools next week: Auburn, Farley, Indian Hills, Pauline Central, Pauline South, and Wanamaker elementary schools. Masks are strongly encouraged at Jay Shideler, Washburn Rural Middle School, Washburn Rural High School, and Tallgrass.

Your child participates in these lessons designed to help students have more positive attitudes toward themselves and others, show more positive social behaviors in school, and have fewer conduct problems. This results in greater school connectedness, which helps keep students safe and out of trouble.

Helpful Resource for families
Please check out this wonderful and sometimes underutilized resource available for all families in Kansas. The resource is the 1-800-CHILDREN helpline. The 1-800-CHILDREN helpline provides 24/7 judgment-free support in English and Spanish as well as 200 additional languages. It’s free, confidential and finds helpful resources for all families.
.
The 1-800-Children has received 331 calls, texts, or emails. 97% of callers report the call line met their needs! FYI, there is also a handy app that can be downloaded to your phone. Kansas Children's Service League (kcsl.org). Raising families can be difficult work and having someone 24/7 available to answer questions and share information about community resources is invaluable.
