Love your library
Our bulletin board will be up through the remainder of February. Take a peek and feel free to add a heart.
Makerspace update
We've been having a lot of fun making and creating on our Makerspace Wednesdays. Our last session we coordinated with Jessica Brogley from UW-P to make a Valentine craft. Her two lovely students hosted a mixed media Valentine canvas, which the students immediately individualized.
Our next session will involve cooking: creating our own smoothie concoctions. The flyer and sign up will be posted this week. Upcoming sessions will include circuitry, green screens, 3-D printing and a possible field trip.
Rewordify
Did you find the perfect article to find out that it might be too difficult for some of your readers? Rewordify is a web-based app that allows you to copy and paste text into a dialog box. The program simplifies the article so that you can differentiate for your students.
Buncee
Buncee is another web-based app. The app creates slides, which can be saved as jpgs/pngs. There are a lot of really great educational templates and graphs that you could use with students.
Extending your screen
Do you want to show a video while working on grades? You no longer need to borrow a computer. Here's a neat little trick that I learned from Kris Brown the other day (some of you might already know this): simply go into system preferences>display>arrangement. Click off of mirror displays. It then expands your screen to what you have in front of you, and the projector screen. You can drag the video to the projector screen, and keep your gradebook on your screen. I would be glad to help you if you want to do this.
New Books
The last part of our book shipment arrived last week. It is always fun to unpack and physically put my hands on the books that I've been reading about. We've received additions to a lot of popular series, books that support curriculum, as well as books that reviewers are raving about. Stop in and take a look at our book displays. I've included a book talk below of one of the new books that I really enjoyed.
