The county was founded on December 29, 1792 and was named after Stephen Cabarrus, the speaker of the North Carolina house of commons. The county seat is Concord. Cabarrus is bordered by Rowan, Stanly, Union, Mecklenburg and Iredell county. The county also has some amazing natural landmarks open for visitation such as Lake lynn and the Uwharrie Mountains.
