HERSHEY NOTES
SEPTEMBER 15, 2017
FROM THE DESK OF MRS. FIELDS
Hershey was invited to write letters or draw pictures for local veterans participating in two upcoming Honor Flights- September 18 and October 23. On the way home in the airplane, there is “mail call” and the veterans receive mail that shows how much we appreciate them. The veterans on these flights will also be invited to Hershey’s Veteran’s Day program in November. Look for more information about these events as well as the “Wreaths Across America” veterans’ initiative in future editions of Hershey Notes.
ALERTS AND NOTIFICATIONS
The fog delay on Thursday was a great reminder about how important it is to sign up for “TSC Alerts and Notifications" via the TSC website. Hershey will also be using this as a way to notify you of late buses and important events such as today’s Picture Day at Hershey.

MRS. LEHMAN'S UPDATES AND INFORMATION
Ambassador Leadership Club: Mrs. Fields and I are excited to start our Ambassador Leadership Club! We had 116 applicants. That is a very impressive number of students who want to be leaders to make Hershey an even better school. Stay tuned for all the exciting things our student leaders will be doing throughout the semester. Last year, we had students who led school tours, tutored other students, created an appreciation station and coordinated a food drive! It’s always exciting to hear the wonderful ideas of our leaders and to see our school work to meet a common goal.
radKIDS: Our 5th graders as well as Ms. Williams multiagers have started radKIDS. We are excited to train another 105 students. TSC has a new School Resource Officer, Rob Rush. He will be assisting SRO Aaron Gilman and myself with radKIDS.
Have a wonderful weekend!
MOVIE NIGHT - TONIGHT!
Don’t forget the first movie night is tonight! Coming to school in pajamas and with a sleeping bag to watch a movie is a memory that our students cherish. No need to bring a snack; this is provided during an intermission. Please remind your child to keep toys and electronics at home as they detract from the main event- our movie! It is also very helpful if you have your child use the restroom immediately before leaving the house. Intermission is approximately at 7:30, and that can be a long time to wait! Doors open at 6:15; Pick-up is at 8:15pm.
PTO DINE-OUT NIGHT
INtegrate Wellness
As we settle into a new school year, it can be a challenge to keep the good health habits we developed over the summer. Now is the perfect time to analyze what we can change and how we can improve our routines.
Having healthy routines that support healthy choices is essential. Willpower only lasts so long, so it’s important to be strategic to establish or continue routines that promote maintaining a safe food environment at home and at work.
The next four segments of INtegrate Wellness will provide tips on how to to maximize grocery shopping, food preparation, sleep and exercise to further your health goals for you and your family.
Grocery Shopping Make grocery shopping efficient. Use the weekend to meal plan and shop to avoid making trips to the store during the week. At the store, focus on the perimeter and stick to your grocery list. Fill your cart mainly with whole food like fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts, beans, fish, lean meats, and spices/ seasonings. Avoid the middle aisles since they usually contain the highly processed food.
E-FLYER
TSC supports "green" efforts and as such to help ensure students receive information about community services or events, flyers from non-profit outside organizations are posted online in a section called E-flyers. All E-Flyers can be accessed from any TSC School website: www.tscschools.com, by clicking the 'students' or 'parents' link in the upper right hand corner of the webpage.
