River Oak Third Grade
October 14th, 2016
It was a MAJOR SUCCESS!!
What an awesome week!! They want to have a "watermelon week" next week!! Ha Ha!!
We had the best time this week! We did two different Science experiments, we talked about and wrote "apple facts" on apples for our hallway display, we made 3D apples, we had a "taste testing" day (with 6 different varieties) , we made homemade applesauce, we made a graph of our favorite ways to eat apples, filled in a map with the most apple-producing states, we ate a different snack each day made with apples (YUM!!), and we finished off the week by going to a cooking class at Hy-Vee!!! It was such a fun filled week filled with learning and ......eating!! Thank you so much to each and every parent who sent in apples and treats for us! I couldn't have done this without you!!
ASK YOUR CHILD ABOUT OUR APPLE VOLCANOS!!
October 25 is our next Buddy Backpack field trip! Please see permission slips in their binders. They need to be returned next week. We will leave school at 9:15 and return around 10:30.
Who won the 1st place prize for participation in our Walk a thon?
THE THIRD GRADERS!!!! IT'S US!! WE DID IT!! WE HAD 100% PARTICIPATION! Sooooooo proud of them!!! We won an ice cream party at Central Dairy. I haven't scheduled our trip yet, but I will let you know as soon as I have it on the calendar!
SO... WHAT COULD MAKE ME HAPPIER THAN AN ICE CREAM PARTY AT CENTRAL DAIRY?
A DONUT PARTY!!!!!!
How??? Bring in the most canned good next week for "make a difference week"!!! I think we should continue our winning tradition and win this too!! Not to mention that I LOVE DONUTS!! Just send in canned foods to school next week. Students will need to check the food in with me BEFORE putting it in the food bins at the front of the room. It will be donated to the local food pantry. We will be part of "making a difference" while teaching our students the importance of sharing and caring!......AND win a DONUT PARTY!!!!!! Its a win win for sure!
Parent Teacher conferences are coming! October 27th (4:00 - 8:00 pm) and the 28th (8:00 am - noon).
I am looking forward to meeting with each of you and sharing grades for the first quarter. Schedules will be coming home soon.
