"Laughter is an instant vacation." - Milton Berle
Need a little laughter? Check out this list of 75 corny jokes!
With Appreciation:
- Kudos to Holly for her work with our students during math night. She taught the students some fun games that they then got to teach their parents. Nice work, Holly!
- Michelle is a StarStruck ticketing machine! Thank you for your efforts to get tickets out to families quickly and for keeping excellent records of our ticket sales!
- Bravo to Ceci and Krystal for taking on Read Across America Week activities! It'll be a great week!
Quick Reminders
- The trimester ended formally on Friday, 2/22, and report cards are to be sent home on Friday, 3/8 (not earlier, please!). Note there is a two week window between the end of the term and report card distribution. There is a calendar of 2018-19 reporting/grading dates in the staff portal - click here to view it.
- The next iReady Diagnostic Assessment Window (for all students in grades K-5) is from March 1-15. Let's aim for 100% completion! Can't wait to dig into the outcomes.
- StarStruck is almost here! We'll be taking order forms/$ for tickets - please send anything you collect to Michelle in the office. Also, the quick rehearsal times for the assembly/show days has been established. Check out this doc and find your time at the bottom of the page for your time slot. If it interferes with recess, we'll find a way to make it work - just let me know.
- In the past, we've hosted an after school "volunteer appreciation event." This year, our goal is to host it before school as a breakfast - stay tuned!

PBIS Update
In February, we are recognizing students who are walking in line appropriately.
Our new ticket pads are IN! Feel free to use up the old ones first, thought. The new ones recognize kids for developing/using a growth mindset.
We let students know about the option to drop their ticket into a box in the MPR and we'll pull five tickets per grade level each Friday. We made it clear that if their teacher is collecting tickets, they can chose which 'bucket' they put their ticket into. Winners of the lunch raffle get to spin a wheel - they can earn fun trinkets, free food coupons, or coupons for things like "front of the lunch line" or "picnic with 2 friends."

LCES Library of Class Readalouds in the staff room
- we'll be building up bookshelf that you can borrow from - we'll add another book each week or so
- check out this spreadsheet - let's keep it up to date with the library options and resources you can access that support the readaloud/book use in class.
- you are encouraged to borrow books to share with your class. Feel free to add your own books and resources too! Be sure to return items promptly so others can use them.

iReady data Checkin
Our next diagnostic window is quickly approaching for grades K-5 - March 1-15. I'm excited to see how our students do given the volume of intervention time we are seeing them engage in.
Please work with your colleagues to arrange for computer access for the assessment window. Remember that Annie has a cart, too, so consider reaching out to her to see if it's available to borrow in your classroom.
This week, iReady released some new reports that focus on what % of students are completing lessons at various time intervals and how accurately they are completing their lesson. Check out these reports and let me know what you think. These are the schoolwide reports, but I can also pull the information by grade and/or by class. The goal is to get all of our kids in the 'green zone!' Zoom in so they are more readable.
iReady Math - School Wide (week of 2/18-24)
iReady Reading - School Wide (week of 2/18-24)
Gate Duty
Thanks to everyone who has been able to help out with this volunteer duty - it's much appreciated. Some of you cannot help out due to other responsibilities - and that's okay too!
I think that anyone who does this duty will tell you it's a great way to start your day! Big thanks to the staff who have helped out to make this happen!
Upcoming Meetings/Activities
If you find that you can't access the Master Calendar, let Pam or Jen know. We are double checking that all staff has access, but unfortunately, it's a clunky part of Google, and access is a very manual process which means that Jen makes mistakes sometimes! Trying to fix it, though!
Where is Jen This Week?
