TEMPERATE GRASSLAND
A division of a larger biome grouping of grasslands
PLANT LIFE-BOTANIST
-Trees and large shrubs are largely absent
-Seasonal drought and occasional fires
-Trees such as cottonwoods,oaks,and willows grow in river valleys
-A few hundred species of flowers grow among the grasses
-Species of grasses include purple needle grass, blue grana and buffalo grass
-Flowers include asters, blazing stars, coneflowers, goldenrods, sunflowers, clovers, and wild indigos
ANIMAL LIFE-ZOOLOGIST
The temperate grassland is home to large herbivores which are, bison, gazelles, zebras, rhinoceroses and wild horses.There are also carnivores which are lions, wolves, coyotes and foxes. Some other animals are deer prairie dogs, mice, jack rabbits, snakes, owls,badgers, black birds and grasshoppers.

Tempratures in temprate grasslands change every season. During winters the tempratures here can go below 0 degrees f. This all changes of course during the summer, during summers temperatures will go up to 90-100 degrees f. Temperate grasslands receive low perception, the average per year is 20-30 inches per year, most of this is rain fall. The best time to vista this area would be during spring.Some cities you can visit that have a temperate grassland are, Denver, Dallas, Omaha, and Tulsa.

Temperate grasslands are located north of the Tropic of Cancer (23.5 degrees North) and south of the Tropic of Capricorn (23.5 degrees South). The major temperate grasslands include the veldts of Africa, the pampas of South America, the steppes of Eurasia, and the plains of North America.
