Dental Screening at Noah's Ark
With Middlesex College Dental Hygiene Program
Dear Parents/Guardians
The Dental Hygiene Department of Middlesex College is excited about offering you a free dental screening and educational program for your child at Noah's Ark. This is an optional screening, which requires your consent and will take place on Wednesday March 20th. The American Dental Association recommends that children should have their first dental exam by their first birthday or when their first tooth erupts, whichever comes first. The first exam for your baby will involve nothing more than looking in their mouth. At this stage it’s more important to give you, the parents/guardians, the information needed to properly care for your developing child. The exam for your toddler and/or pre-schooler will involve looking at each tooth and surrounding gums and cheeks to ensure there are no cavities or basic dental problems. No treatment will be conducted during this screening. A letter will go home with your child with referral information if your child needs treatment. Your child will not be forced to participate in the screening. Dental visits should be fun and free of all fear. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or me. I look forward meeting your child and teaching them how to take care of their beautiful smiles!
Sincerely,
Michelle Roman, EdD, RDH
