Our Mission: To Glorify God by making More and Better Disciples
Looking Forward
Greetings family and friends of First CRC!
Wow! The summer flew by for me! It is amazing to think that many of our children are heading back to school in only a couple weeks. On the home front, this is special for Julie and I as our oldest son, Liam, will be going to his first day of school!
I am sitting at my desk knowing that the next few months will be filled with transition for many of us. Getting back into the swing of the school year, jumping back into committees and church ministries, and all the hustle and bustle that comes with the Fall season.
Before the craziness of Fall is upon us, this is the prefect time to stop and reflect on all that the Lord has done over the course of this last year! To that end, I am looking forward to our Annual Congregational Meeting on August 19th so we can do just that.
In doing so, we can join the Psalmist in proclaiming:
"One generation shall praise Your works to another,
And shall declare Your mighty acts with praise." - Psalm 145:4
We have so much to be thankful for! Let us remember the one who is worthy of all glory and praise!
In Christ,
Pastor Justin
SUNDAY MORNINGS THIS MONTH
In the month of August we have a lot to celebrate...
On this Sunday, August 5th, we will be celebrating the Sacrament of Communion. This sacrament confirms in us God's abiding love and faithfulness. Not only that, but Communion is also a meas of grace that unites us with one another. What a joy it is to celebrate Holy Communion together!
The following week, August 12th, we have the rich opportunity to witness the public Profession of Faith of Jared and Lisa Johnson. The Johnson's have been worshipping with us for almost a year and have been participating in our Life Groups even longer still. Mark your calendars to join us that morning!
On the third Sunday, August 19th, we will have the opportunity to hear the faith and life story of Heather Thomas. We call these "God's Story/Our Story." We are so grateful for faith and life testimonies like Heather's because it gives us another opportunity to "...Let [our] light shine before others in such a way that they glorify God in Heaven." [Matthew 5:16] When we hear how God works in the lives of others, it gives is the courage and hope to share our faith stories as well!
On the fourth Sunday, August 26th, we will witness the public Profession of Faith of Judy Marcum! We are so excited to welcome them into full fellowship of the life of the church, including all the joys and challenges that come with covenanting together! Join us as we celebrate and affirm God's work in Judy's life and her desire to join fully in fellowship with this body.
ALSO,
Mark your calendars for August 19th, which is our annual Congregational Meeting. This meeting is for all adult (18+) professing members and will start after our AM service at 10:55 am. Church Order stipulates that we will have one annual meeting which will comprise of 1) Affirming new office bearers, and 2) Approval of an annual budget. We will also take the opportunity to look back on the year 2017/18 and celebrate all that the Lord has done!
