Multi-factor Authentication for Microsoft Outlook
**Before you can add your account, you must download and install the Microsoft Authenticator app from the Apple App Store.**
Multifactor Authentication Initial Setup
Once you access your GC Portal, Outlook will be a tile for you to choose. You will need to set up two-step authentication from your desktop computer by going to https://aka.ms/mfasetup.
Login to Outlook
- Sign in using your district email. (ex. firstname.lastname@gccisd.net) Click Next.
- Enter your district password. Click Sign in.

Step 1: Add the Authenticator App sign-in method
Click on Add sign-in method
Choose the Authenticator App method
Step 2: Download the Authenticator App in the Apple App Store
Step 3: Set up your account
Click on Next to get the QR code for setup on your phone.
ON YOUR PHONE, please follow the prompts.
Accept Microsoft's Privacy
Click Continue
Click Scan a QR Code
Allow Authenticator to Access Camera
Scan QR Code
Account Added!
Step 4: Verify Authenticator Setup
The authenticator app will now verify the success of your setup. Please enter the code displayed in the setup instructions in your authenticator app.
Enter the code and click YES.
If successful, your notification will be approved.
Microsoft Authenticator multi-factor authentication added
You will now see the Microsoft Authenticator method added to your security info.
Once your app is successfully installed and setup, you will need to enter your code each time you sign into a new device to verify it is you.
Depending on which method you chose, the app will either send you a notification to your phone with a code or you will need to enter the Microsoft Authenticator app on your device to retrieve a code to enter.
