More on Executive Functioning...
Organizing, planning, and initiation of tasks are three of the major skills under the umbrella of executive functioning. At times, larger projects can seem totally overwhelming. Following a process like the one outlined above can help to make a large task seem less daunting by breaking it into smaller pieces. This certainly isn't just helpful for our kids - adults can benefit by following the same type of structure. Especially helpful is the backward planning element where envisioning the task already completed helps to guide the process of getting ready to initiate the task.
