WBMS Friday Notes
3/19/21
Reflections from Ms. Williams
WBMS Parents and Guardians –
We welcomed back close to 70 students this week as we moved into our final quarter. Some of the students had never set foot in our building and others had been away for anywhere from a few months to an entire year. I encountered 8th graders who have grown so much since I last saw them that I did not even recognize them!
For our final quarter, our F2F students selected their seats in the cafeteria for the remainder of the year. We still have seating charts for contact tracing and students are still spaced out, but at least they were able to select a lunch buddy or two to make the time more meaningful. Kudos to the student who made the cafeteria suggestion during the February principal check in. We really do our best to listen and act on student feedback.
On Wednesday, we celebrated Hats off to the Webb Way with hats and lots of green. Our students at home and school as well as our staff got in on the fun. All the lucky charms reminded me once again how fortunate I am to be part of this amazing community, especially during this challenging school year.
Enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend and stay well!
In collaboration -

Parent Survey
So much has changed in the world and at WBMS due to COVID. Some of the changes have improved our school and thus we want to keep them even once school goes back to normal. However, are there school processes and procedures we hope will end with the epidemic. The purpose of this survey is to capture what we want to keep after COVID and what we hope will not be needed once the fear of the epidemic has ended. Thank you in advance for your reflection and feedback.
SGC Elections
SGC Elections
SGC Elections will be held March 24-31. Each registered guardian will receive an e-ballot on March 24 from Fulton County Schools. You are eligible to vote for candidates at the school you will attending next year (ie, 5th grade parents can vote for WBMS candidates and 8th grade parents can vote for AHS candidates).
We are so fortunate to have 4 AMAZING candidates running for the parent spot on our WBMS SGC. Please take a moment to read over their information.
Saira Joseph--My name is Saira Joseph and I am interested in serving on the SGC for Webb Bridge Middle School. For the last two years, I have held the same role at New Prospect Elementary School andhave enjoyed the opportunity to work with my children’s school and administration to define yearly goals and plans to achieve those goals that make NPES a better place for our students / community. Next year, my two youngest children will be attending Webb Bridge MS with their sister and I want the opportunity to continue in the same capacity. I have the desire to play an active role at my children’s school and SGC allows me to use my background and experience in my “day job” to help the school and community. I think Alpharetta and in particular, the Alpharetta HS triangle is a amazing place to many and my children have thrived here. I would love to be a part of SGC to help WBMS continue being the impactful, positive environment it has been going forward. Thanks for your consideration
Pranav Singh--When you learn, teach, when you get, give. –Maya Angelou We have been a part of the Alpharetta community for close to a decade. We have two kids. One has already graduated from Alpharetta High School and the younger one is attending Webb Bridge Middle School. Through the years, I have always looked forward to supporting the schools in many ways working with our teachers and school administration. I have served on the board of Creek View Elementary School chapter of Dad’s club and many other events. I have also served volunteer positions on local Cub/BoyScout troops. I work as AVP Business Development for a digital transformation organization. COVID-19 has significantly impacted the education experience during the past year. I believe there are many learnings and opportunities that can be derived for a safe and inclusive education environment. It is my first year serving on a school governance council and I intend to bring my 25+ years of industry experience to the SGC. Thank you.
Melissa Turner--My name is Melissa Turner and I am excited to run for School Governance Council for Webb Bridge MS. With a rising sixth grader, an elementary schooler, and a preschooler, I have a vested interest in the future of WBMS. I would love the opportunity to be involved in the vision and strategy that will continue to drive the school's success. I am a parent of a child with unique learning needs and requirements, so I am passionate that our schools provide the best learning environment for all children. I enjoy staying involved in our schools. I am a member of the PTA and have served as room parent for the past several years. Professionally, I am a senior advisory analyst for a document management andservices company. I support the creation of our strategic plan, analyze business results, and provide recommendations to our executive leaders. I welcome the opportunity to bring my professional experience and my passion for our school’s future to the council. Thank you for your consideration.
Chandra Tyler--I am excited at the possibility of serving on the Webb Bridge Middle School Governance Council and having a role in the vision and direction of the school. I have a rising 6th grader who will begin her middle school journey at Webb Bridge in the Fall of 2021. I have been a member of the PTA at New Prospect Elementary since we moved to the area, as well as served as a CAT Mom each year. I am looking forward to being actively involved at Webb Bridge Middle School and ‘Exemplifying Excellence Through the Webb Way.’ Professionally, I have worked in the IT field for over 20 years. My ability to work effectively as a team lead and individual contributor, excellent communication skills with all levels within an organization, strong attention to detail, and commitment to quality are some of my key strengths that have helped me excel professionally and would be assets as a member of the Webb Bridge Middle School Governance Council. Thank you for your consideration.

Carpool 2020-2021
We've had an increase in carpool riders this year and so we've made a few updates. Please see below.
- There are two "lanes" the pick-up and the exit lane.
- We've extended the carpool lane in the afternoon. Please pull all the way up to the end of the traffic circle (see image below).
- It's a "Load and Go" method- once your student is in the car, please carefully merge into the exit lane (yellow arrows- see image below)
We will use carpool numbers to dismiss students to maximize social distancing. If you have not already requested a Carpool Tag, please contact hedgerb@fultonschools.org to request a tag. Please include your student's name and grade in the request.
If your student always rides the bus home, walks, or rides a bike, you do not need to complete the form. If you have more than one student at WBMS, you only need one number per household.
Thank you!

MARCH READING MADNESS!
March Reading Madness begins!! With students’ input and book circulation stats, brackets were created with authors in three divisions: Middle Grades, Young Adult, and Graphic Novel/Manga categories. Step 1: Join the WBSM March Reading Madness Microsoft Team with code cagn3d1. Phase I: students may predict winners in each of the head-to-head contests through to championships in any or all of the divisions. The first bracket submitted will be the one used for judging, so students may want to wait until closer to submission deadline (3/21) for their final choices. Phase II: Join in Team channel conversations about authors and their books to learn what peers are reading (and for insights on bracket picks). Phase III: The games begin on March 22nd at 7 a.m.! Each day new Forms will be posted on the Team for that day’s competitions, to be completed by 8 p.m. Students may score 1 point in each contest for their favorite authors; authors with the most points advance to the next bracket. Prizes will be awarded to students who guess closest to author winners in each division for each grade level but we hope everyone who participates feels like a winner as they share and learn about new reading choices!
All WBMS students have access to both our print and digital books through curbside or in-school pickup of books reserved on Destiny or through the eLIbrary in ClassLink. Please click on the March Reading Madness and Women's History Sway for videos, information, and sample titles.
WBMS Media Center – at curbside!
Students may now check out books from the WBMS Media Center – at curbside! Locate and hold titles in Destiny Discover, then watch for an email from the Media Center that your books are ready. Pickup times are between 7:45 a.m. and 4 p.m. on school days outside the media center (traffic circle just past front office entrance). Dial 470-254-8755 and we will bring books to you outside.
