iMiddle Parent and Community News
iMiddle news for the week of 4/27- 5/01
Message from the Principal
Greetings Parents & Community Members,
Testing has started. Students are doing a great job! As a reminder, we need students at school every day and on time. Please limit picking up your child early or dropping them off late as this will affect their testing schedule.
There are many events coming up in the month of May and June. Please see our calendar of events below and iMiddle.org for more information on the calendar.
I wanted to remind you that in order for the 8th graders to attend the Promotion Ceremony and attend the 8th grade activities which include Belmont Park, yearbook parties and other events that take students out of classes the last week of school, students can not have any F marks, U's in citizenship or more than 10 tardies for the school year. We have had several meetings with the students encouraging them to do their best and to seek out extra help after school if needed. We would love for all of our 8th graders to attend the activities at the end of the year. We need your help in assisting us with this goal.
Power Talk, is on Monday 4/27 3-6pm at Boomers!!
Flyers went home last week. The counselor has free tickets to give out, first come first served for parents/teens (they must attend together). Parents stay for mini presentation, kids can play! This is a free event wish the purpose of educating parents. Mothers Against Drunk Driving is dedicated to helping parents of middle school and high school keep their kids safe through the research-based Power of Parents program, based onprinciples proven to reduce underage drinking by up to 30 percent.
Continued from last week:
This year, our 7th and 8th grade students will participate in presenting their best work and discuss their learning experience at the iMiddle Showcase on May 27th from 6:00-7:30 p.m. All students will be expected to present at night and will receive a grade for this project. There is a formal letter being mailed home this week and one also is being sent home with your child this week with additional details. We need these signed letters back so we can start coordinating adults to be in the rooms during the presentations.
The purpose of this activity is to provide an opportunity for our students to experience presenting and speaking to staff, members of the community and their peers about their learning experiences in middle school. This event is also tied to Common Core State Standards for listening and speaking. We hope you can join us during the Showcase. You will receive a short orientation as what to expect, what to ask, and how to respond to students during this exciting event. Our students will have spent hours in preparation for their Showcase that would only require 1 1/2 hours of your time.
As a school community, we are very proud of the accomplishments of our students and we hope you are available to share this experience with them. The student presentations will be conducted on Wednesday, May 27th from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Students are expected to arrive between 5:30 - 5:45 p.m with their parents or guardians. We hope you can be an active participant in this event and we need your support to act as an audience for the students presentations that will be showcased.
Thank you so much for your support. We look forward to your participation in this learning event.
