Principal Notes 09/19/2014
St. Cecilia School
Notes from the Principal
Father Secora accepts a check from the Mrs. Campbell's students for the fund to make improvements to the Christian Peterson Madonna of the Schools. Over the next year the parish will be determining a repair plan and permanent solution for the display of the statue. The students raised the money by their participation in a Blue Jean/Spirit Day prior to the ISU/UI football game. Mrs. Campbell's class was the top class for raising funds for the day. Thank you to the students for their support and watch the parish bulletin for updates on the project in the upcoming months.
Dear Parents,
St. Cecilia School would like to start a 'Backpack Program.' The Backpack program is designed to increase access to easy-to-prepare food items to school-aged children, who are eligible for free or reduced lunch, on weekends when school lunch is not offered.
At this time, we would like to ask for three to five parents to help us pilot this program. This would require a commitment for some initial planning meetings and once the program is started, hopefully by November, a weekly commitment of approximately thirty minutes.
If you are interested in helping with this program, please email Lois Vidimos at lvidimos@stceciliaschoolames.org by Friday, September 26th. We will try to hold the first meeting on October 1st or 2nd. Thank you.

Scrip Tidbits
Did you know? Last year, the Scrip program raised over $9,000 toward education programs! Thank you so much to all of the individuals and families who have faithfully purchased gift cards through the Scrip program. This is such an easy way to help the teachers and earn credits towards your family tuition account at the same time or donate it to the school tuition assistance program.
If you have any questions about Scrip, please contact Bev Williams or Shannon Schroeder at scrip@stceciliaschoolames.org
