THE SKY NEEDS STARS
NUDGE: ROBERTS MIDDLE SCHOOL VOLUME 8
Dear Roberts,
I believe that we grow the most when we are playing and practicing at the edges of our limits. I want you to imagine that you have a magic lamp and a genie grants you one wish. What would be your wish? The ultimate hack would be to wish for more wishes. Now I want you to imagine that you have a learning genie, and you were granted to learn one skill? What would you want to learn? I would want to hack the system by requesting learning how to learn, so I can learn whatever I want. I can apply that skill to anything. By hacking the skill to learn, I am able to learn anything I want. This skill becomes a force multiplier.
I believe it is our job to teach students how to learn. Let’s face the truth, majority of our students do not know how to learn. They have never been taught the necessary skills to create educational hacks. This is why I believe the acronym "R.U.B.I.E.S" is one of many learning hacks. We have to create a systematic approach in how our students process the information. Remember, master teachers leave clues, it is our job to find these trail of clues to make learning sticky. I want every teacher to embrace the concept of RUBIES, so that we can streamline how our students learn and formulate their answer.
I believe RUBIES is a force multiplier. Our job as educators is to deconstruct everything until we find what is essential. We have to be disciplined in our pursuit of doing less to achieve more. We should be incorporating it in every class. I want RUBIES to be one of our everyday fundamentals.
This past week, my team and I had the pleasure of serving you omelets. We are always searching for new ways to give you the ultimate work experience here at Roberts. We are united in our efforts to help you see the evidence of how much we love and care for you. You are welcome to ask any questions and bring your suggestions to help make our work environment better. We will only grow through the collective ideas on how to improve the process. We welcome your questions in order for this school to continue on our path of excellence.

Focused Walk Through
T-TESS 2.1 Achieving Expectations
As we walked through your classrooms focusing on classroom environment, routines and procedures, we have many celebrations and are proud of the solid foundation you have built in your classrooms to begin working towards our instructional focus. Productive classroom environments, routines and procedures do not happen by accident and your effort does not go unnoticed. Continue to deliberately practice and revisit expectations and make adjustments as necessary.
Beginning Wednesday, as we walk through your classrooms we will be focused on T-TESS Dimension 2.1: Achieving Expectations (The teacher supports all learners in their pursuit of high levels of academic and social-emotional success), another step in personalizing small group instruction. As you work towards our instructional focus, you must establish a learning environment that supports and motivates students to do their personal best.
Listed below are examples of evidence of Achieving Expectations.
