Do You Google?
Did you know over 40, 000 searches are conducted on Google in the world every second. That means 3.5 billion searches are conducted every day. Shouldn't you do it efficiently? Here are 5 tips for conducting your next search.
- Simple Search- Type words such as pizza nearby which returns pizza businesses nearby.
- Use the Tabs- Once you enter a search and press return/enter click one of the tabs at the top to narrow down your search for Images, Videos, Books, News, etc.
- Do Math- Simply type phrases such as square root of 36 or 12 times 50 to see the answer.
- Gradually add Search Terms- Keep adding words to your search to refine it. (ex. First try: colleges, Second try: art colleges, Third try: apply for art colleges)
- File Types- Search by specific file type for example school.jpg or convertingfractions.pdf.
The 4C/3A Challenge
As we continue our mission to integrate technology in the classroom, we should focus on the 4Cs which are communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. These are skills that we want all of our students to possess as they graduate. In many respects we are preparing students for jobs that don't exist yet so developing these skills are critical to their success.
Often times technology lends itself to supporting students in these areas. Here is a great video from Eric Curts speaking about the 4C's of Education. Please watch as Eric explains the 4C/3A Challenge.
