HIGH Museum of Art will host Educators Night
Saturday October 20, 2018 the HIGH Museum of Art will host Educators Night from 5-9 pm. Educators and Administrators get in free and can bring FIVE guests including children. This is a great way to not only see the newly reinstalled museum, but also a great way for classroom teachers to learn more about why visual art is such a critical part of the curriculum. Bring the entire family for a fun night of art. I hope to see some Suwanee Elementary people there. Learn more at HIGH.org

FLU SHOT OPPORTUNITY
The pharmacist from Publix will be here at Suwanee Wednesday November 7th before (7:15-7:45) and after (3:00-3:30) school to administer flu shots to staff and their families who would like to receive them. You will need to fill out the flu shot form and attach a copy of your insurance card. The form and insurance information will need to be returned to me by October 23rd, so the doctor can process their insurance information. I spoke with him last week and he has done several schools in our cluster, with no one having to pay a deductible so far. Every person that gets a flu shot will get a $10 Publix gift card. Since he is processing everything ahead of time it will be a very quick process on Nov. 7th. Return to Rebecca in the clinic.
eCLASS Updates
Coming the Week of October 15: Mirroring Students - Instructors and administrators will have the ability to “mirror” students in eCLASS C&I. This allows teachers to troubleshoot student issues, and will be especially helpful on a Digital Learning Day.
Coming soon- SAFARI Feature Enhancements - Teachers will be able to upload files and web links into SAFARI. Students will be able to view YouTube links loaded into SAFARI while on the GCPS network if, and only if, they are using a GCPS laptop or desktop computer while at school. The same functionality is being investigated with District-Managed Chromebooks. Regardless of the device, students use of the links will be available at home (attachment at end of newsletter).
Starting on Wednesday 10/17, all GCPS Computers will begin transitioning to using Google Chrome as the default Browser on all Windows 7 and Windows 10 computers. The GCPS Torch Icon on Windows 10 computers is an instance of Google Chrome. There is no need to pin another instance of Google Chrome on computers.

Nix News!
Interim Time
- BEST PRACTICE: Require students to raise their hands when they are finished so you can watch them click the submit button.
- You may not pace students. Students must work at their own pace and finish in the allotted time of 60 minutes.
Testing Schedule
- A revised schedule is attached at the end of newsletter.
- Students have 60 minutes to complete each test. Please begin and end testing at the times on the spreadsheet.
- There is a window of time between grade levels to allow for logging in, etc.
- Please have students bring their login cards just in case they have forgotten their information.
Daily Verification Sheet
- In each lab, there is a tray with the daily verification sheets for your class.
- Please complete the verification sheet each day and leave it in the tray. I will come by at the end of the day to collect all of them.
Proctoring via SchoolNet
- You must follow your students’ progress online as they take the assessment.
- The attached document provides you with step by step directions (attached).
- You will have to sign off each day that all students who are present have a score in SchoolNet. (**I understand there will be unique cases for students with accommodations and 4th/5th grade math. You are signing off that the students with you at that time have a score in SchoolNet. At the end of the day, you will need to check one more time to see if all students have a score.**)
1st and 2nd Grade Headphones
- All 1st and 2nd graders’ interims will be read aloud.
- Please have students bring earbuds or headphones to the labs.
- A case of headphones is in each lab for students who do not have a pair.
- These must be counted in and out each day.
Testing Accommodations
- Individual teachers will receive an email concerning students who are pulled out for testing accommodations.
