Good Things
- Great engagement in classrooms. I really enjoyed the level of questioning in a 5th grade math class I visited on Thursday. Students were working on problem strings. Nice job with that lesson.
- Students are all sharing books they are reading with me. I enjoy our time together.
- The Day of Awesome was absolutely AWESOME!!!
District Walk Through October 8th
Data Dig Schedule October 22nd
Below is the data dig scheduled for October 22nd. This year the Data Digs will be facilitated by your PLC leader. Please make sure you are present for the Data Digs, it's important for everyone to be present and on-time so that we get the most out of each session. Central office will make the guest teacher arrangements for us on this day. Leave adequate plans for your guest teacher and make arrangements for any student that may need a location change while you are in the meetings. Please see me prior to October 21st if you have questions or concerns. Thanks everyone.
Grade Level Schedule:
4th: 8:00 - 10:00 (Art-room)
5th: 10:15 - 12:15 (subs eat lunch with students) (Art-room)
- 5th grade teachers eat lunch 12:15 - 12:55 (subs are still with students during this time)
3rd: 1:00 - 3:00- teachers return to your class to assist with dismissal (iCenter)
Noticing: Note-Taking
- What's the purpose of taking notes- do students have a clear understanding of the purpose?
- Do you have an established note-taking model or lesson that you have engaged students in prior to them taking notes?
- How do students interact or engage in the notes beyond the lesson for the day?
This also makes me think of the AVID STAR Note-Taking strategy which emphasizes Focused Note-Taking. If you would like for me to come in and do a demonstration lesson with your students or would like for me to work with you on this let me know so we can schedule a time. Below is a link to the STAR Note-Taking overview. I want us to continue being intentional and explicit in every aspect of our teaching and expectations. Whatever support I can lend in this area please let me know.
