The Principal's Desk

Dear College Park Families!

We have worked through August and are grateful for change, patience and communication. In just the first few weeks of school we are excited about how August has brought about change. Simple steps that are clear in change include our car rider line beginning at 2:20pm and is cleared about 2:31pm and we also have about 80% of our families registered to their Class Dojo! Let's Go Tigers!

When I conduct my classroom walkthrough I observe quality teacher engagement and student skills development. Our 4.5 week progress report cards will be issued in Infinite Campus Thursday Sept 16, 2022. This is the time to begin to see how your child is acclimating to the instructional expectations of this school year. It is also the time to connect with your child's teacher through Class Dojo if you are in need of clarification of how you can help at home.

Our Thursday Communication includes

What we covered this past week

What we will cover next week

I am challenging my team to ensure we are sharing the family engagement:

How Can I help at home?

This will include a variety of options; study guides, sample questions or topics to ask, practice skills & videos to watch!

I also want to empower and engage parents with the FCS Parent Curriculum Hub

It provides all the FCS curriculum resources aligned with what is taught in your child's classroom! Be sure to join us for Carnival Curriculum Night on Sept 15, 2022 to learn more about what it looks like for your child each day!

Honored to Serve,

Dr. Maisha N. Otway

Principal

THIS WEEK IN REVIEW

Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program: Dino Egg Pluot & Nectarines

As part of USDA’s Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program, our school will have a free fresh fruit and vegetable snack during the school day! The program expands the variety of fruits and vegetables children experience while increasing children’s fruit and vegetable consumption! Beginning in September, students will get a free fresh fruit or vegetable snack every Monday, Wednesday and Friday! This week our students were excited to try Dino Egg Pluot & Nectarines. Dino Egg Pluot is a cross variation between an apricot and a plum. Nectarines are a stone fruit that grow on trees and are a good source of vitamin C. Both fruits are mainly grown in the valley area of california.
