  • Friday, September 23rd: PLD Day - Watch for information from your child's teacher.
  • Monday, September 26th: Kindergarten Walking Field Trip to the Fire Department.
  • Tuesday, September 27th: 3rd Grade Field Trip to Mulberry Orchard.
  • Tuesday, September 27th: 1st and 2nd Grade Downtown Walking Field Trip.
  • Wednesday, September 28th: 4th Grade Field Trip to the ATC.
  • Thursday, September 29th: 5th Grade Field Trip to University of Kentucky.

5th Grade Bring It to the Dinner Table Night

Join the 5th Grade Team, Southside Teachers and Staff for a Dinner Table Night on Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 5:00PM - 6:00PM at Southside! Preview the book, "Esperanza Rising", that your student will be reading. Enjoy themes from the book while you snack on chips, salsa and queso!


Each classroom will have a Family Fun Basket that includes games and more! Students that come to Bring It to the Dinner Table can enter for a chance to win 1 of 3 Family Fun Baskets that night!

Southside students and teachers kick off Career and College Week!

This school year, Southside Elementary is celebrating the Year of the Tiger! We have planned several fun events and activities for our students, staff and Southside families throughout the year! We are excited to announce that Career and College Week starts September, 26, 2022! All of our Tigers will be participating in planned field trips that focus on careers/college, setting goals for the future, and exploring fun and interesting things that they would like to learn more about! Southside encourages all students to "Dream Wildly" about future adventures and lifelong learning! Below is the schedule of each field trip for the week:


  • Monday, September 26th: Kindergarten Walking Field Trip to the Fire Department
  • Tuesday, September 27th: 3rd Grade Field Trip to Mulberry Orchard
  • Tuesday, September 27th: 1st and 2nd Grade Walking Downtown Field Trip

If you would like to attend your student's field trip you must be a SCPS Approved Volunteer. Please reach out to your student's teacher to request a SCPS Volunteer Background Check Form.
