A note from the Principal...

Welcome to the 2017-18 school year! We are excited to begin a new year and we have a lot of fun learning activities planned for your child. We look forward to working with you and your child this year to provide the best learning environment possible. If you ever have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to communicate with your child's teacher or myself. Please check this newsletter for upcoming events and important information.

Important Information...

If you are writing a check to Eastside Elementary, please include your work phone and home phone number and driver's license number on the check.

Daily Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures

Please do not allow students to leave your vehicle until the front doors are unlocked. We have two entrances to the parking lot for morning drop off. The first entrance is on Bellamy street by the marquee. Please stack all three lanes and merge at the corner by the gym. Once you approach the front of the building, please have your child unbuckle and get their belongings together. We will do our best to open the door for them, but if they are able, they can exit the car on their own. When entering the parking lot from Main Street, you will be merging into three lanes of cars towards the front of the building. If you need to come into the building, please park in the Bellamy Street parking lot. You will need to enter the second entrance on Bellamy and turn right into the parking lot. Please do not drop your child off in this parking lot.

When picking up in the afternoon, we only have one entrance from Bellamy that opens to three lanes. The first two left lanes are for front car rider and the last lane merges over to the gym. Please stack all three lanes and merge as you come around the playground. Please have your dash tag visible and do not get out of your car. We will load your child for you. When exiting the lot, please use your blinker.

Parents are not allowed to walk up to get students from the car line.

We do not allow parents to sit and wait for students in the lobby or on the sidewalk.

Thank you for helping us keep your child safe and help you enter and exit the parking lot as quickly as possible!

Help Our School Earn Cash!

Please collect and send Box Tops to help our school earn money! Please make sure Box Tops are not expired! Box top sheets are available in the office. Students will earn a 50 cent coupon for the bookstore when they turn in a Box Top sheet.

Another great way to help our school earn money is through Coke Rewards! Please send in your Coke bottle caps or box tabs!

Volunteer Opportunity

  • We need volunteers to read each morning to our Kindergarten and First Grade students.

  • We begin the day each day with kindergarten and first grade students ,who arrive at school early, in the library from 7:30 to 7:50.

  • Choose a day of the week that you could come each week. Arrive at school at 7:30.

  • There will be teachers in the library to help you with your group. Students go to class at 7:50 so it is just 20 minutes of your day. This is such a great way to begin your day!

Check in at the office then come to the library to read. Mrs. Sowell will have books and fingerplays for you to share with the children or you may bring books that are favorite with your children to share with the students.

Please email Mrs. Sowell the day that you are able to help at pam.sowell@cps.k12.ar.us

Thank you in advance for your help in making Eastside a great place to learn.
