The Cub Hub-For Families
April 3, 2020
Hello Heritage Families
This week will be our final "review week" for your students. Next week on April 13, we will begin doing some new learning virtually with your kiddos. Please do what you can and what is manageable for you and your family. Dr. Morrison and I have spoken with our teachers and we have asked them to remember that many of you are working yourselves, have more than one child and that you may only have one electronic device in your home. We are hoping to not overwhelm you, but support you in educating your children during our closure.
If you cannot make every class meeting or attend live lessons-- don't worry-we will record them and send them to you. That way you can watch when it is convenient for your family. Just as we stated last week; reading to your child and with your child will be our main goal for this month. We encourage you to reach out to your child's teacher if you have questions or concerns about your child's progress. We are all learning together and our goals for your children during this time are that they:
- have a positive learning experience (not frustrating or difficult)
- feel loved and supported
- read daily or be read to daily
Thank you for working with us on these goals. Together, we can make sure our students succeed, keep growing and continue building a love for learning!
Love,
Dr. Sutton

Heritage Primary Support Staff Person of the Year--Kate Rangel
Congratulations to Ms. Kate (Kate Rangel) for being named our Heritage Primary Support Staff Person of the Year for 2019-2020!!!
Have your kids told you about Ms.Kate yet??? She is just wonderful! Here is what some of our staff members had to say about Ms. Kate:
Kate is an incredible asset to our Heritage community. She is the definition of teammate. She is always striving to make both her colleague’s and student’s lives run more smoothly and doing all she can to ensure the most success.. and WOW is she good at it!!! She deals with so many behaviors and is always calm, cool, and collected and everything her students need in that moment.
She knows each student individually and what works best for them. Kate is always willing to jump
in and help with all Heritage students. She is kind, intelligent, and quick on her toes. In the classroom, Kate is supportive of the teachers and students by assisting with small group or one-on-on instruction as well as supporting student behaviors. Kate is a team player who always has a smile or kind words to share. She is a tremendous asset to our school!
Congratulations Kate! We are so lucky to have you here at Heritage!!
Tired of cooking??? WE've got you!
Census Information
Every 10 years, the Constitution requires that all residing in the U.S. be counted. The 2020 Census counts the population in the United States and five U.S. territories and it is particularly important for school districts. The 2020 Census will inform funding for educational programs that benefit our children, such as special education, after-school activities and school meal programs. Each home received an invitation in March to respond to a short questionnaire online (new!), by phone, or by mail. The information you receive has a special Census ID number to use when you respond and "Count Day" is officially April 1, but you can complete it today. All responses to Census Bureau surveys and censuses are confidential and protected under Title 13 of the U.S. Code. Under this law, the Census Bureau is required to keep respondent information confidential.
Be sure to take the time to fill out the questionnaire - so everyone in the WSD counts! For more information, visit 2020census.gov.
