Message From Your Leadership Team
Happy New Year!
We hope everyone had happy holidays and a relaxing break from the school routine. While a break is nice, it was wonderful to have the children back in the building this week. We loved hearing the stories about what they did during break!
This is the time of year for resolutions. Are you are interested in examining your parenting practices and possibly even making your New Year's resolution related to being an even better parent? The article, The Silent Tragedy Affecting Today's Children, by Victoria Prooday, is filled with critical facts and statistics about our youth and what we can do to combat mental illness and other rapidly increasing health concerns that are prevalent in today's youth. It made us reflect on our own parenting and felt it was worth passing along as it is filled with tips to help support the development of children and cautions about what to avoid.
Warm Regards,
Jen Sullivan (Principal) and Jill Doyle (Assistant Principal)

Message From The Health Office
“Tis The Season” for winter illnesses!
The decision to keep your child home from school is not always clear cut. Most often your child will do fine in school with a little encouragement! Here are some guidelines to use in determining whether your child should stay home.
Any condition you think or know is contagious to others.
Fever greater than 100.4 orally. Your child should remain out of school until temperature is less than 100.4 for 24 hours without fever reducing medication.
Your child is too ill, sleepy or lethargic to sit and learn.
Sore throat with fever or lethargy - consult a physician
Honey-crusted sores around the nose or mouth - consult a physician
Headache with fever - consult a physician
Severe ear pain or drainage from the ear - consult a physician
Red eye with itching AND drainage - consult a physician
If your child receives a diagnosis of strep throat, they need to be on antibiotic therapy for 24 hours prior to returning to school.
When calling in an absence it is very helpful to indicate the reason. For example stating strep throat or vomiting is helpful to the nurse for tracking illnesses, stating “sick” gives no significant information.
As always if you have any questions please feel free to call the health office at 670-4054.
