Welcome to November!
We're thankful for all of our amazing patrons!
Welcome to the liminal space of November!
November is a month of transitions - its not quite fall, but its not quite winter either--it's the monthly equivalent of a liminal space - a slightly eerie "crossing over" space where things may not seem like they should be at face value, yet they aren't completely surreal.
There are a few transitions happening here at the library this month - stay tuned for more information!
In the spirit of thankfulness...
Thank you, Slav!
Last month at the Upper Skagit Library we...
...reviewed Our 24/7 Wi-Fi Access Policy.
After reviewing multiple surveys, patron testimonies, and several spirited board meetings, the Library Board of Trustees has decided to keep the current Wi-Fi Access Policy. Additionally, the board has decided to assist the East County Resource Center in looking into additional options when it comes to East County campus security. For more information, head over to our website (upperskagit.lib.wa.us) where we've posted links to survey results, Wi-Fi use data, and more.
At November's Board of Trustees meeting, the October minutes will be approved, and we'll post them on our website here: http://upperskagit.lib.wa.us/trustees.html soon after.

November is National Novel Writing Month!
In celebration of NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month, the Upper Skagit Library will have a “Come Write-In” Workshop on Saturday, November 17th at 3:30pm, lead by local author Nicola Pearson, and followed by a book launch for her latest project, "The Gift." We will also hold an “Open Mic” on Friday, November 30th at 5pm, also to be lead by Nicola. Both events are for writers to discuss and share what they are and/or have written during the month.
The Municipal Liaison for the Skagit Valley Region of NaNoWriMo, Isabella Cooper, will be hosting the opening event at 5b’s Bakery DATE AND TIME.
We'll also have various writing challenges and prompts on display throughout the month.
For more information on National Novel Writing Month, visit nanowrimo.org.
