Shah Jahan was the fifth Mughal Emperor of India from 1628 to 1658.
The Taj Mahal was built for Shah Jahan's wife, she loved it there. You could see this spot from their palace, where they lived. She loved it the most, because it was peaceful and calm. The Taj Mahal is known for being one of the most beautiful sites in the world. Many people visit the site, and a little over 3 million people visit the beautiful palace every year!
