Tiger Teacher Beat
December 2019
Just hold on.... We are almost there!
As we close out the year of 2019, let's celebrate all we have accomplished in just a few short months. You have all given so many gifts to the students here at Fair Grove. You have worked long hours and have already made such a difference in each one of your student's lives. I hope this holiday season each one of you is richly blessed. Enjoy your time off and I wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas. See you next year!
Relationships- Brighten Up a Student's Day
Brighting up a student's day is simple. As teachers all we have to do is show up, light up, build up, and never give up on our students.
Rigor- Box it
If you want to increase the rigor in your lessons during the gradual release process, consider using the box-it technique during your we do guided practice or you do together time. This technique can be done one of two ways. Students are engaged in higher order thinking by analyzing content together, or evaluating responses and giving feedback. Check out this box it example where students evaluate other students' responses in math. This is also a great accountability piece for learning.
Relevance- Statements of Insight
This is a great way for students to reflect after a lesson. It provides opportunities for students to engage in conversations with other students and learn form one another as well as an opportunity for you to be able to gain understanding of what the students have learned and what they need more support in. This is the way that students make learning relevant to them. Reflection and relevance go hand in hand.
Specialist Collaboration Document
Specialists will update group progress weekly. You can also communicate questions or inquiries on students through this document too.
Jan Richardson Small Group Observation
Sign up in January or February for an opportunity to receive feedback on small group practices.

Rigor, Relevance, and Learner Engagement Rubrics
As we move closer to our Quarterly planning days, take a look at these rubrics and think about how you can use this to assess and evaluate instruction in your classroom. We will look more closely at these on those days.
