Suggested Practices
- How open minded are you? Honestly…tell yourself the truth here. How often do you shut out things you don’t agree with before you even consider them? Do you remember when this started and why you allowed yourself to limit your input? Was it because you started to believe you already knew something? Or because your society told you one way was truth or fact?
- Have you considered yourself an expert at something? Did that stop you from developing further? And on the opposite of that…do you feel you are too naive about some topics? Has that limited you?
- Have you felt you are working to become an expert or gain skill? Where has that skill gotten you so far and can you see how you have gotten to this point? What where the phases? Can you still connect to the beginning you…the one that got you started?
- Can you explore your artistic field as a beginner? As if you did not already know how to shade or paint….how to use your chosen medium. How could this help you become more open?
- Can you let go of the shoulds and embrace coulds? Do you think you should do certain things in your practice? What are the shoulds, how did you arrive at those? Do you have things you could try but haven’t? Why?
- Embrace questions over answers. Allow yourself to ask lots of questions and not worry about answers…not worry if you are right or wrong. Just enjoy being curious and inquisitive.
- Think as far back as you can to your youngest childhood memories of being creative or artistic. What did that feel like? What did you want to create? Spend time memories of childhood creation without judgement…focused on the feeling of being a creator spirit.
- Nurture your spark…you came here with a creative spark that was for you…to light your path…your way in the dark. Make sure you are tending that flame. It needs exploration and curiosity as fuel, acceptance and appreciation too. Take care to tend your own spark…you can offer fuel to others too…but yours is your responsibility. What do you offer your child self? How do you play?
