Announcements
- Our students are halfway to becoming FRESHMAN! We will be pushing our students to work hard and think hard with higher-level concepts so that they are prepared to walk in the doors of NKCHS in 8 months! We appreciate your support in preparing your child as well. We've been emphasizing the importance of at least trying when working in class, coming to class on time prepared and ready to work, and getting to school daily!
- The next session of EDP will start on January 17th. A form will be included in this newsletter as soon as they become available; they will also be available in the office. Don't forget that EDP offers Homework Help!
What did we do in class today?
Math: Today students will graph proportional relationships, interpreting the unit rate as the slope of the graph. They will start to compare two different proportional relationsips represented in different ways. For example, if you have someone's running speed in a graph but another's speed in an equation, students will compare the two unit rates to see who is faster. Students will lastly take a quiz over these topics. ANNOUNCEMENT:On Wednesday, students set up their math notebook online. We are going to go paperless as much as possible. One of the many benefits of this is that if students are sick, they can see what they missed and work on it at home, given an internet connection. I will post daily agendas as well as assignments in their interactive notebooks (One Note)! I am very excited for this change.
ELA (Mrs. Goodwin/Ms. Nielsen): Today we are completing a Frayer model over the concept of inferring as a review. We then made inferences using riddles and passages. HONORS: Honors class worked on organizing for their next book clubs. They gathered in their new book clubs, determined their own rules for meetings, set goals and deadlines, and received their book. Their books must be read at home; they cannot read them during our library book reading time at the beginning of each hour.
ELA (Mrs. Brown):Today will be testing day for IEP goals.
Social Studies: Students are creating Imovie trailers about the bill of rights!
