Reminders!!!

Saturday, February 20- Meet at GreenHouse Ministries to help organize donations from 9-11am. (LIMITED to 6 kids) Mrs. Mitchell and Mrs. Webb will be there to supervise. Sign up sheet is outside of Mrs. Webb's room.


Monday, February 22 from 3:15-4:00- Help teachers at Early Learning Center (LIMITED to 15 kids) Mrs. Mullins will be there to supervise. Parents are needed to drive students from campus to Early Learning Center. Parents need to pick up students at the Early Learning Center. Sign up sheet is outside Mrs. Webb's room.

**** Students may choose to participate in GreenHouse Ministries on Saturday or Early Learning Center on Monday. Students may not do both to allow others to earn hours.


Friday, February 26- Breakfast Club at 7am in Mrs. Bowman's room. Sign up sheet is outside Mrs. Webb's room.

Mark your calendars!!! We have a lot going on this semester!!! More information will be sent out the closer we get to each event.

Collecting Gloves for Barnabas Vision- (worth 30 mins for participating) Bring in new or gently used gloves by the end of February. Baskets will be in Mrs. Webb and Mrs. Mitchell's room.

Monday, February 29 at 7:55am- Service Club leading elementary chapel/aprons will be given out to those with 10 hours (hours MUST be turned in and verified by club sponsors no later than February 24)

* Volunteer needed to help roll and bow aprons beforehand

Wednesday, March 2- Meet at Westbrook Towers for worship service from 6:45pm-7:30pm. Boys are needed to lead singing, say prayers, read scripture, and give a devotional talk. Girls are needed to sit with the residents during service and then talk with them afterwards. Parents are welcome to attend.

Thursday, March 17- Serving MTCS Board Members Dinner

Saturday, March 19- Meet at Greenhouse Ministries to help with the Mobile Food Pantry from 8-11am (must have an adult for every three students)

Saturday, March 19- Special Kids Race- earn an hour for participating (no sponsors will be at this event)

Thursday, March 24- Serve at the Veterans Dinner (parents and 4th/6th graders needed to serve)

Friday, April 8- Breakfast Club

Saturday, April 23- Run Cougar Run (earn an hour by participating in race or working water station) More info will be available closer to event

Friday, May 13 Breakfast Club with picture slideshow

Monday, May 16th- Field Trip for those that have earned at least 15 hours. We will be eating lunch at Chilis and then touring Greenhouse Ministries and one other nonprofit.

Friday, May 20- Elementary Awards Day- Students with 15 or more hours will receive a certificate.

Please Note:

We are so blessed to have 72 active service club members this year!!! That means 72 students actively trying to get their 15 hours!!! That makes it impossible for us to provide enough service opportunities for everyone to get their hours just through service club. Therefore, students are going to need to find opportunities outside of service club activities to get some of their hours.

Ideas: check with nonprofits to see how you can get involved, volunteer at your church, nursing homes, pet establishments (some do have a minimum age), etc.

Club sponsors are happy to help out if you are struggling to find ways to serve or if you are not sure if something would count as hours.

Important Change

Due to the fact that we have 72 active members, it has become to difficult for Mrs. Webb to keep up with everyone's service hours. Therefore we have a new system in place. Everyone will be responsible for keeping up with his/her own hours and logging them into our service club notebook.

The notebook is located on the red table in her room. (We will also have it at each breakfast club.) Service hour forms are inside. See Mrs. Webb if you have any questions. Mrs. Webb does have everything recorded from last semester that was done with us or turned in. Therefore you just need to add what hours for this semester.

Unknown Club Dues Turned In

Cash was turned in for a student's club dues in an Omicron Kappa Nu envelope. Please let one of the sponsors know if you turned this in so we can mark down the correct person as paid. Thanks!

Don't Forget: Students must have 10 hours to receive their apron and 15 hours by the end of the school year to be recognized at Award's Day!!!
