Athletes Returning from Positive Tests
Please note: Students that have mild symptoms must provide a note from a MD to return to activity.
Reminder: Upon return from a positive test, student athletes are exempt from weekly PCR testing (Healthy Davis Together) for 90 days. Students that have tested positive for COVID-19 in the previous 90 days still must follow all decision tree requirements according to their vaccination status. For those that become a close contact, antigen testing will be used to replace the PCR tests during their 90 day period.
NEW Isolation and Quarantine Duration and Re-entry Criteria
The Yolo County Public Health (YCPH) updated its guidance yesterday regarding isolation and quarantine duration and re-entry criteria to reconcile the latest guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC). The change in protocol, which DJUSD has instituted, includes the following changes:
For cases where a student is positive for COVID-19, or when an unvaccinated student is exposed, while unmasked, to a positive case, isolation or quarantine will last a minimum of five (5) days. In order for students to return on the sixth day, the following must occur:
- The student’s symptoms must be resolving and they must be fever free for 24 hours prior to their return to school.
- A parent/guardian must bring the student to the school office and present a picture of a negative rapid antigen test and complete an attestation form confirming their student has a negative test result.
- The student will be asked to double-mask or wear a KN95 or N95 from day 6 through 10 for all activities on school campuses.
You can review the updated guidance and decision tree from Yolo County Public Health.
NOTE: Do not take a PCR test for the 5 day test back option.
NEW CDPH Guidelines (Indoor Masking)
The CDPH published updated guidance for school sponsored extracurricular activities. New guidance allows athletes (indoors) actively engaged in practice, conditioning, competition, or performing to remove their mask.
All coaches, game staff, spectators, and others that are not actively engaged in activity must continue to mask at all times.
Athletic Team Testing Requirement
All active 9-12th grade DJUSD athletic teams will be required to test for COVID-19 at least once per week. This requirement extends to all coaches, athletes, and team volunteers. Active teams are considered teams that are holding in-person activities whether or not the season has actually started.
COVID-19 testing is available through Healthy Davis Together in many locations throughout the Davis community. The closest testing location to Davis Senior High School is at the Veterans Memorial Center just across from the student parking lot. You can find the latest testing locations and times here. All student-athletes must register for HDT testing, using the DJUSD agency code. If a student-athlete has been tested before through HDT they do not need to complete registration again.
Team members, including staff, will be required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test within the last seven (7) days each Monday to their Head Coach.
Students and coaches without proof of a negative test within the past 7 days will not be permitted to participate in team activities until the negative test is provided.
DJUSD does not accept over the counter rapid tests. Please plan your testing accordingly.
NOTE: If you have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 90 days you should NOT test for athletic participation. Please submit a copy of your positive test to document that you are exempt from testing for a 90 day period. Submit Past Results to: covid19reporting@djusd.net
