Head of School - Highlights
Dear WAMCS Family,
Thank you for a great beginning to this school year and I greatly appreciate your patience, feedback, and positivity as we move forward into the year!
We have several great events coming up in the next few weeks, so I encourage you to get involved.
Each year, we ask for Snack Helpers to support our students in providing snack to their classes. If you are interested, use the button below to sign up! You will need to complete the district volunteer information at your earliest convenience and Kris Busch will contact you once your background check is cleared.
Also, our Parent Connect will have a meeting on Monday, October 3rd to hold elections for this school year and continue planning the wonderful activities for our families and students.
Our WAMCS Governance Council Annual Meeting is occurring on Tuesday, October 18th. It would be great for you to take time to attend this meeting to learn about the past, present, and future of our school! I look forward to seeing you then!
Warmly,
Mrs. Channel

Music Lessons for 6th Graders
In 6th grade, our WSD Orchestra and Band programs begin instruction. This optional program is a great opportunity for students to learn an instrument and join a fun performing group! Last Friday, 6th grade students were presented with a demonstration of all the instruments studied in our band and orchestra programs. Now, it’s time for students to choose their top picks! They will complete an interest form in their music classes next week. In the coming weeks, students will be given the opportunity to try out their top choices and work with our qualified instructors to determine what instrument is the best fit for them. We hope to start band and orchestra classes near the beginning of October. Classes are held DURING the school day.
Instruction will be available without charge; however, students are responsible for providing their own instrument, supplies and instruction book. Information on local instrument rental programs and the availability of school owned instruments will follow at a later date. PLEASE avoid purchasing or renting an instrument until your child’s instrument selection is complete and you receive that information.
We hope your student is excited to have the chance to learn an instrument! Research continues to show the many academic, social and emotional benefits of instrumental music; plus it is tremendously fun! If you have any questions, please feel free to call Ms. Martin, Mr. Marrier or Ms. Ohrmundt at 261-0725.

WAMCS Governance Council Members - Needed!
As a public charter school with the Wausau School District, the Wausau Area Montessori Charter School is afforded opportunities to be unique. However, we are still bound by all Wisconsin Department of Instruction standards and assessment expectations. WAMCS's charter agreement with the district allows us to modify items such as curriculum, daily schedules, the length of our school day, and other items.
In addition, WAMCS is required to have a Governance Council to help oversee and guide the school's operation. The Governance Council functions similar to a regular school board; the council ensures financial, operational, and educational accountability of WAMCS.
There are currently TWO open positions on our council that need to be filled for our team to be complete. Please consider this opportunity to serve our students, staff, and families!
