Spring Conferences!
Congratulations to our Lake Agassiz Vex students and coaches!
Lake Agassiz Vex Team Update!
Our Lake Agassiz VEX teams are in their 4th year. There are four teams made up of 4th and 5th graders that have been building their robots since mid October. Two of the teams competed in the VEX Discovery Elementary Competitions in January. Lake Agassiz captured the Excellence Award at this competition! This qualified both teams to compete in the North Dakota State Competition in March.
Four Lake Agassiz VEX teams participated in the VEX tournament at South Middle School on February 4, 2023. This team received the Judges Award on February 4. The VEX judges award is given to a team that "displays special attributes, exemplary effort and perseverance at the event, or team accomplishments or endeavors throughout the season that may not fit under existing awards but are nonetheless deserving of special recognition." What an honor for these students!"
Our Lake Agassiz coaches are Diana Iverson, Emily Keller, and Trevor Hagen. One of our parents, Mr. Bill Harris, has been a part of our coaching team as well. He wrote a grant for a Milwaukee Packout Toolbox from Crystal Sugar, which was awarded. He then contributed tools to go with the packout, making mobility to the competitions so much easier. (see picture below). We thank him for this great contribution to the VEX program and for all of the engineering expertise provided to our students.
The final Lake Agassiz VEX competition will be at Red River High School on Saturday, March 11. All four teams have qualified for the State tournament. Great work, Mustangs!!!!
Winners of the Judges Award - Congratulations! Cade Cary, Ruby Vettelson & Mia Hager | Vex Trophies from 1st two competiions | Milwaukee Packout - Our Vex Storage on Wheels! |
Lake Agassiz PTO Corner
Hello from your Lake Agassiz PTO!
It is hard to believe we are already thinking about our spring fundraiser! We are trying something new this year and working with Butter Braids! If you have never had these before, they are a very delicious pastry bread that comes frozen and you bake them at home. For this fundraiser, your student will sell and collect the money and then the Butter Braids will arrive frozen and need to be picked up from the school and delivered by the student and their family. This fundraiser will start at the end of February, so we will have plenty of details soon.
Our Family Dance coming up in February. Please save the date for February 23rd! We would love to see as many families as possible at this event. This event as well as the Boss’ Chicken and Pizza event can be found on our Facebook page. This is such a great way to stay in touch with your PTO. We hope to see you at our next meeting on February 7th at 6:30 PM in the library! Enter the school through Door #9.
