For the Week of Oct 9, 2023
Working together; succeeding together.

Meet Edsby
Over the next few weeks we will be showcasing different parts of Edsby for our families. Edsby i s about as complex as Facebook to operate and navigate within, so if you can do Facebook or Instagram, you can do Edsby. We will journey together to ensure that you are as up-to-date as possible on the progress of your child and the goings on at PPCS.
Episode 3: 3-Way Conference
In consultation with our SCC, the PPCS staff has determined to host a more traditional style of 3-way conference. Families will book a time, all families must attend. Time slots will be 10 min long and students are expected to be in attendance for at least part of the conference time. Topics of discussion will be mutually determined by the families, students, and the teacher. Digital documentation of learning is something that all schools in NESD are working on, this will most likely come up as part of the discussion during 3-way conferences.
Occasionally, teachers may need to talk to families about a particular student. They will request a 3-way conference slot to do so. If families wish to speak to another teacher, as well as the teacher requesting the slot, they can sign up for an additional slot.
Parents will receive a notification to sign up for 3-way conferences through an Edsby message this week. Please sign up soon as slots are on a first come first serve basis. All students are expected to attend a 3-way conference. We look forward to chatting with you on October 25 or 26.
Edsby
Edsby allows you to check on your child's current progress in their classes. Check our family handbook (link below) for a key to the completion codes that you will see in Edsby.
If you are having trouble accessing Edsby for any reason, contact the school and we will do our best to problem-solve with you.
Bear Bites is Back!
Due to increases in grocery prices, we will have to increase the cost of our meals to $5.00 from $4.00, we thank you in advance for your understanding.
We will once again be running the punch card program but will be setting up a dollar-for-dollar card. You can load any amount (up to $100) that you want on a punch card. Anyone who has leftover punch cards will be notified and the value will be transferred to a new punch card. We also hope to have a digital portal set up where parents can check on how much money they have left on their child's card. Thank you for your patience as we work through this process.

Volunteers and Athletes of the Month
Volunteer of the month.
Mrs Patchin gets the nod this month for holding down the fort in the canteen on Friday night. She often helps out by picking up supplies and serving food throughout our athletic events and her help is surely appreciated. Thank you for all you do for Bears Athletics.
Athlete of the month
Harley Holinaty has made a smooth transition to the high school sporting end. She has demonstrated a solid base of volleyball skills and an effort level that shows she is a gamer. She will be one to keep an eye on as she gains experience.
Athlete of the month
Marty Salmond has been ripping serves and making some good decisions while setting for her team. Marty appears very positive on the court and seems like she is having a lot of fun while playing which is the goal we have for all of our athletes. Great job in September Marty.

Check Your Punch Card Balance
Once you click the link below and find your child's account number, you will see a number to the left of their account number (i.e. 17). That number will not change, so you only have to remember that number going forward.
We hope that this will help our families.
