The Saints Parent Pledge

All areas of the St. Louis Catholic High School community (students, faculty & staff, parents) have been asked to develop a pledge to acknowledge our commitment to living our lives according to the tenets of our faith and the standard of excellence that our school community strives for. The parents of St. Louis students are invited to contribute their ideas to the SLC Parent Pledge.

Examples of this pledge could include:

  • Pray for SLC daily.
  • Challenge their students in all areas of life.
  • Support the school's mission.
  • Use social media to promote SLC in a positive light.
  • Host student gatherings that are supervised & free from alcohol & drugs.

I ask that each of you reflect on the purpose of the parent pledge and submit any ideas to me via email, drosteet@yahoo.com by Monday, October 30, 2017.

Sincerely,

De Ann Rosteet

SLC Parent Guild President

Curriculum Corner

Welcome to a new school year! As the fall semester gets underway, there are already great things happening at SLCHS. Students can be seen creating murals in Art and snapping photographs in the Commons for their Photography courses. One of the many benefits of attending SLCHS is that students are able to choose from over 100 courses throughout their four year journey. These courses range from four levels of Latin to Computer Architecture; from Honors Chemistry to Food Service. Students can be challenged through numerous Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Besides scoring well above the National Average on standardized and Advanced Placement tests, SLCHS students continue to improve on both ACT and ASPIRE composite scores. Look for specific test data in our next newsletter.

More important than any test score is the value of each student and his/her well being. As a SLCHS community, it is our goal to know each student as an individual. They are precious gifts from God and we believe that is the best curriculum we can offer.

Blessings,

Mia Orgeron

Assistant Principal

Tech Tips

Tech Tip from John Monlezun (OneNote Student Avenger):

"If you are ever struggling with something or don’t know how to do something it’s a great idea to go and talk to Mrs. LeJeune or a OneNote Avenger."

Each Moodle Class Page has the list of OneNote Avengers and a YouTube Playlist for Students with helpful videos. Students can also email the Avengers and Mrs. LeJeune for help.

St. Louis Catholic High School is also a Microsoft School and has “received this recognition for beginning the journey to whole school transformation to improve teaching and learning.” Congratulations Saints Faculty!

The SLC Parent Guild met on the first day of school to discuss the yearly events. If you are interested in volunteering, please visit https://www.slchs.org/parent-guild.

A "Hall" of Art!

Lauren Hall (junior) competed among other students to design the cover of the Saints Athletic Dinner Auction Program. The auction is scheduled for Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 6 pm. Lauren won first place and received a $25 gift card to Target and a Century Club Pass for her family. Way to go, Lauren!

Research Re-Invented

During the week of September 5-8, Mrs. Barrow brought her English I students to the library to learn about the library's research databases. Students used the databases to answer questions on a scavenger hunt and "break out" to show readiness to begin the research on his/her paper's topic.
