School Policy Update
Our leadership team met this week and updated our water bottle policy. Students are now allowed to carry a water container during the school day as long as they meet the following conditions:
- The water container must be clear and it may only contain water.
- The water container must have a lid.
- A teacher makes the final determination on if/when water bottles may be out in class.
We have new water bottle fountains (pictured) that allow students to refill their water bottle throughout the day.

8th Grade Vision Screening
Vision screening will be provided for students in grade eight on October 27, 2017. The Hagerstown Lioness Club provides the initial vision screening in kindergarten, grade one, grade three, grade five, and grade eight. You will receive written notification should your child need further evaluation. It is important to note that these are simple screening tests and are not designed to be diagnostic of specific vision or hearing disorders. Washington County Public Schools (WCPS), in collaboration with the Hagerstown Lioness Club are pleased to continue to provide these vital services for WCPS students.

Support for our School!
PTO Information
We have had a great first month of school. We would like to thank the families for attending our first PTO meeting this month. We will be having our next PTO meeting Wednesday, October 4th at 6:00 pm in the media center. Immediately following this meeting we will meet with those interested in helping with our Warrior Walk. PTO would like to thank National Junior Honors Society and Mr. Ganoe for preparing our Warrior Walk envelopes. We appreciate your help! If your child has not brought home his/her envelope, you may access the form here:

We are still looking for business sponsors to support our Warrior Walk. This is a great way for businesses to show support for our PTO and advertise your business. For more information, please email Cindy Line - c.line@myactv.net or call 301-667-7731.
We have added a fun incentive for the top 5 students in each grade level who raise the most funds for our Warrior Walk. These students will get to throw pies at some of our awesome staff members during the student/staff football game taking place in the afternoon on October 6th.
Box Tops
We are currently having a Box Top competition between grade levels. Please send in your Box Tops with your child. Students are able to place Box Tops in the specified containers held in the cafeteria. The grade level with the most Box Tops will receive a reward! While we collect Box Tops all year, the first contest will end on the last day of October.
