Mini Tech Training
Aimee Bates and Sharon Drake recently worked with Dr. Page to organize a mini tech training session for West teachers. The training was held during a monthly faculty meeting. Teachers were surveyed about their interests/needs and sessions were designed to meet those interests/needs. Mrs. Vanessa Rakestraw, WES 6th grade teacher, joined Mrs. Bates and Mrs. Drake in providing three separate sessions for teachers. The three sessions ran simultaneously. Sessions included training on Nearpod, Google Drive and Apple Resources (apps, Apple TV, and the Apple Teacher program).

When Your Assistant Principal Knows Real Stuff
When students find out that administrators really do know about important subjects it is a powerful moment! Students in Mrs. Robert's class had a chance to learn about acids and bases from their assistant principal, Mr. Gragg. Students were delighted to have him step in to teach.
Ecosystem Web!
Students in Laura Tokar's class may look like they are demonstrating the old adage "oh what a tangled web we weave..." but they are actually creating a physical representation of an ecosystem web. Making learning fun!
Active Learning at The McWane Center
Third grade students participated in some very active learning last week. A field trip to the McWane Center brought opportunities to see, to hear, to touch, and to experience the wonder of science.
WES Class Makes Front Page
Ms. Gardiner's class was on the front page of The Cullman Times. Their class picture was used in conjunction with an article on CCS plans for the future.
That Moment When You Know Learning Was Real
The Firefly Pre-K class and their student teacher, Mrs. Marcia Stringer, completed a unit on "Simple Machines" and learned about incline planes, screws, wheels and axles, wedges and lever with fulcrum.
At the end of the unit the class went outside to the playground and gym to find simple machines using a checklist of possibilities. The Fireflies had a great time and the children learned so much. It was reported that one student shared his learning at home when he told his parent that his slide was an incline plane and his bicycle has wheels and axles!
Flags Donated to CCPS
Thank you Mr. Bates and Woodmen of the World for providing CCPS with U.S. and Alabama flags! We will fly them proudly.

The CCPS Book Fair was a huge success. Thank you to all who came and purchased items from our fair. The students below couldn't wait to get their hands (and eyes) on the books!
