Alder Weekly Update
Week of October 4, 2020
Message from the Principal
Hello Alder Parents, Teachers and Students,
I hope that everyone had a great week! Here at Alder, we are continuing to prepare for our students return. We are considering so many things to ensure safety and preventive practices. Classrooms are being set up for safe distancing. We are enacting procedures for movement in hallways, bathroom usage, and stairwell usage, so that it is designated by team. We are truly trying to consider every way that we can have our students back in safely with their teachers and fellow students. Please look for updates coming from School Messenger emails and texts. Check in periodically on our website for new information.
This past week, we celebrated a Week of Respect. While we are clearly aware that respect never ends and it is an ongoing practice, we also love recognizing this week with special messages shared and colors worn as a sign of our unity and commitment. A thank you to our counselors for organizing the messages and days this week.
Speaking of counselors, beginning next week on October 13th, our counselors will be back at Alder in the building. They are reaching out to students to schedule appointments. They have been available virtually, but it will be especially nice to have them back at school with us and in person.
Parents- If you feel that your child could benefit from a session, in person or virtual, then
please reach out to the assigned counselor as soon as possible to be scheduled.
Students- Please do the same. Your counselors are here for you. Let them know what is going on and if they can help you to be more successful in school.

Mr. Spence R-Z
Alder Students and Parents, we truly hope to see you soon. One of our students, Carter Chew, shared a funny video with me that captures some of our common frustrations and challenges with Wifi and technology. We have to do our best, keep a positive outlook, and look to each other, especially humor when things happen! Thank you Carter for offering your humor and perspective on virtual learning.
Have a great week. Enjoy Monday off!
