Parent Feedback Needed!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Parents,
We need your help! We are looking for your feedback. We would like for you to complete the Georgia Parent Survey. It contains 24 questions. You may complete the survey using your personal computer, smartphone, or tablet. The data collected from the survey will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating, which is an indicator in our academic accountability system, the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI). Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.

Tech Tips: BYOT
This time of year often brings new devices to our students. Parents often wonder what the rules and expectations are for BYOT, or Bring Your Own Technology. You may read all the details on the Technology Dept webpage: Click here to read about BYOT.
If you're looking for apps that kids frequently use at school:
- RAZ KIds
- Wixie
- Google Suite (Drive, Docs, and Sheets)
- A QR code reader (unless you have an Apple device with iOS 11 - then just use the camera!)
- Skitch
- Educreations
- Sock Puppets
- Screen Chomp
- etc....there are LOADS of apps that individual teachers may recommend!
Happy Holidays,

The holidays are a wonderful time to catch up with family and friends. Many families travel over the holiday break as well. Along with all the celebration come stress. Eight in ten Americans report that the holidays are a time of increased stress. The good news is nearly 9 in 10 believe that holidays should be more about family and caring for others, not giving and receiving gifts.
Some ways to help reduce stress over the holidays are:
- Read a good book together.
- Draw and color or paint a holiday scene.
- Bake some goodies or make some tea. The scent will be wonderful and calm your nerves.
- Play or exercise.
- Sing and laugh.
- Watch a favorite holiday movie.
By doing these things together you can reduce the holiday stress and have some special time together as a family.
May you have a safe and relaxing holiday break,
Dr. Collins
News from Nurse Echols
It’s not too late to get a flu shot for your student and family! The Forsyth County Health Dept. has plenty of flu shots available. They are open Monday-Friday from 8:00-5:00. From 12:00-1:00, they close for lunch. Remember, the TRUE flu is a virus lasting anywhere from 7-14 days. Fevers are sometimes as high as 103, but can be as small as 99.
As more and more students become sick with colds and viruses, just a reminder that NO students are allowed to carry medicines with them. A parent or another adult MUST bring in the medicine and fill out the proper paperwork, giving me, the nurse, permission to give your child the medication. Cough drops are not allowed in school! They have been known to be a choking hazard to some of our students.
I hope everyone has a fun, safe, relaxing holiday season!
Sincerely,
Lisa Echols LPN

STEM News
December has been a fun filled month of Computer Technology and Coding in the Science Lab! All grade levels completed an Hour of Code activities in Code.org and we learned about the computer, computer safety, and the language of Coding to communicate with computers! I am very proud of all of my Computer Programmers and Coders and hope you have a relaxing Winter Break with family and friends! I will see you back in the Lab on January 8, 2018!
Love,

From the Midway Café
It’s hard to believe the first half of the school year is almost over. We’ve had such a wonderful time in the café so far, and looking forward to many great things to come in the next half. But this month’s not over yet! On Monday the 18th, we had our annual “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” celebration. We all had on our Grinch attire and had some special red & green treats on the line that day. We also showed the original Grinch movie by Dr. Seuss, while the students were in the café. A fun day for everyone!
Our December harvest of the month has been sweet potatoes. We regularly serve sweet potato items on our menu. Sweet potato crinkle fries and maple roasted sweet potatoes to name a couple. Sweet potatoes have many wonderful health benefits. Did you know they have twice the fiber of regular potatoes and a low glycemic index? They’re also rich in vitamins C & E, and have twice the RDA for vitamin A, not to mention they taste yummy!
Our Strong 4 Life focus for the month is reminding us to limit our screen time. We love our technology don’t we, but we need to maintain a balance for a truly healthy lifestyle. Speaking of balance, we are also talking about eating in moderation this month. The holiday season is such a great time to celebrate with all kinds of food. We just need to remember; moderation/balance is the key in that area as well.
We here in the Mustang Café want to wish you all a wonderful winter break. Sleep in when you can, love, laugh, play, make quality time for those you care about and be safe. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve your students each day. As always, please feel free to contact me at any time if I can be of any help.
