Giving Tree

We now have our giving tree ready for anyone that would like to pick a star and give a gift to someone in need.

Please come into the office with your child or complete the form that has been sent home so that they may pick a star.

All presents are due back to the school no later than December 17.

Parents, by now you should have received an email from me if your child is participating in OBOB. If you have not, please email me so that I may add your correct email address to my database. I had a meeting today with all the OBOB participants to go over the rules and procedures, there will be a follow up meeting with the participants next Friday to answer all their questions. At this point your child should be reading lots of OBOB titles.

The battles will begin on Wednesday, January 22nd. Our official OBOB page can be found on the Findley School Website under Academics, this page lists the titles, thousands of practice questions, and will eventually have the Battle Schedule. Also please consider volunteering as a battle moderator. It is great fun and I will be asking for volunteers after the winter break. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Reading for Bees

Reading for Bees kicks off Monday. The last 3 years we have read for Goats, this year we are reading for Bees!! In conjunction with the Cedar Mill library we will be reading toward an 8,000 hour goal school wide. If we hit that goal, the PTO will purchase 50 bee hives to be distributed by Mercy Corps.

Watch for information to come home with your K-2nd graders. 3rd - 5th will track their reading minutes in their reading journals.

Go Dragons, let's meet that goal.

Change of go home plan?

Please make sure that your student has a note for the office anytime there is a change to their normal go home plan. It is important that we know that you are aware of any changes to how your child will leave school. This should include the following:

Early pickup by parent

Pick up by someone other than parent

Staying late to help a teacher

Going home with a friend

Thanks for helping us keep your student safe!

Be Mindful in the Parking Lot

  • When dropping off your student on school grounds, be sure to follow the school’s Arrival/ Departure procedure to help ensure safety and efficiency for all.
  • Know the plan, follow directional arrows and volunteers.
  • Pull forward as far as possible before dropping off.
  • Students MUST enter/ exit vehicle onto/ from the sidewalk.
  • Students must cross at intersections: DO NOT wave students across travel lanes.
  • 5 mph/ maximum speed to school property.
  • When dropping off, driver must stay at wheel.

Please park the car if you need to: walk your student to the door; watch your student enter the building; get supplies from the trunk; help with a coat or backpack; or send your student off with anything more than a wave or good-bye.

Thank you for keeping the parking lot flow smoothly so everyone can stay safe and be where they need to be in a timely fashion.

Middle School Boundary Meeting: Dec.19th @Cedar Park Middle School

Hello Findley Families,

Upon the email update from BSD, the next Middle School Boundary Adjustment Advisory Committee meeting will be on December 19 from 6:30pm-8:30pm at Cedar Park Middle School. You are encouraged to attend in order to understand the process and provide your input. Please find all the information on the Middle School Boundary Adjustment webpage.

Findley Winter Party: Dec. 20th

On Friday, Dec. 20th, students are encouraged to wear their pajamas to school and celebrate a winter party in their classrooms. Be looking for volunteer opportunities from your class coordinator for this fun upcoming event! Here are the times for each grade level winter party:

Friday, Dec. 20th:

Kindergarten- 11:15-12:30

1st- 9:45-10:45

2nd- 12:00-1:00

3rd- 10:20-11:30

4th 11:00-12:00


Please note: The school parking lot will be full on party days, so plan extra time for parking. All volunteers must have completed a BSD background check before entering the classrooms. Thank you!

Siblings may not accompany you to the classroom for the Holiday Party.

Beaverton Clothes Closet – Sock and Underwear Drive: Dec 16th – 20th

The Beaverton Clothes Closet is a volunteer service organization that provides clothing for children in need who are enrolled in grades K-12 in a Beaverton school. The Clothes Closet is always looking for new donations of socks and underwear and lightly used clothing for children in our community. Findley will have a new sock and underwear drive during the week of Dec. 16-20, 2019 to help support this program. Please bring donations to the clothes bin in Findley’s lobby; this is a great way to help students in our community!

Findley Volunteer Day at the Beaverton Clothes Closet: Wednesday, Dec 18th

Findley Elementary’s designated day for adults to volunteer at the Beaverton Clothes Closet is Dec 18th. Please sign up for a volunteer shift on My Impact Page to help support these local families in need. Volunteers are the mainstay of operation and will be asked to help sort or distribute clothing during your shift. Thank you!

Donation boxes for clothing are located on the porch of the portable.

You can also donate used children’s clothing in the clothes donation bin at Findley’s office.
