Drop Off Request
I would like to ask all parents who drop children off in the morning to use the marked spaces. On occasion someone will stop on the crosswalk in front of the door, instead of pulling up to the first space. This effects our ability to get students across the crosswalk safely. It is even more important now that it is staying dark longer. Thank you for your help.
Please be Aware
We received an alert regarding potential threats to those who play Pokémon Go. I don't know how many of our students play the game, if any, but I wanted you to be aware.
"Pokémon Go Provides Sex Offenders Opportunities to Target Potential Victims".
Authorities caught someone in Indiana trying to lure a young girl by using Pokemon Go. Apparently he was able to create locations and sent her to where he wanted. Fortunately, authorities were involved before any harm came to the child.

PTO CORNER
Thank you to everyone who purchased the Greeting Cards! We have just realized there is a problem with the size of the envelopes for all cards except the Cardinal blank card. McPhersons is working with us to fix this mistake and your child should be bringing home new envelopes this week. PTO and McPhersons apologize for the inconvenience.

Energy Kits--first goal reached!
Thank You! As you know St. Louis School is encouraging families to sign up to receive a free energy kit. Thanks to your support, we reached our first goal of 100 families and received a check for $250. You can tell by their smiling faces below how thrilled the students were at achieving this goal!!
SLS will receive another $250 for every additional 100 kits requested. We are putting this information in the bulletin asking St. Louis Parishioners to consider ordering their own kit to help us reach the next level! If you know anyone that has not signed up, please ask them to go to MyEnergyKit.org and order. There is a drop down tab of schools where they can select St. Louis School.
Thank you,

K-2 Christmas Program
Our Kindergarten, First, and Second Graders have been working hard to prepare for their upcoming performance. They know 19 verses to classic Christmas carols. Come enjoy their performance on Monday, December 5, at 7:00 in the Activity Center.
All student performers should arrive between 6:30 and 6:45 on December 5. Students will report to the cafeteria where their teachers will be to help them get lined up. Students should wear dressy clothes – please no jeans, sweatshirts or tshirts. This is a great opportunity to get pictures in Christmas outfits!
Note Name Turkeys
Our third graders got a head start on seeing notes and their names by constructing note name turkeys! They were excited to share the finished product.
RAA Young Artist Showcase for Music
Any student in grades 6-8 who is interested in the RAA Young Artist Showcase for Music should see Miss Kushman to sign up. This performance opportunity is provided free of charge, and happens during the school day. Vocal entries will perform on January 25, and instrumental entries will perform on January 26. If you have questions, please email Miss Kushman ckushman@st.louisschool.org.
Energy Kits
So far, St Louis Catholic School has requested 113 Energy Kits and has saved 22,600 kWh of energy.
The $2,500 grand prize will be awarded to the school who hosted The Conservation Caper and/or Energy Agents this fall semester who has the most unique Energy Kit sign-ups submitted by December 31, 2016.
Thank you staff, students and students' families that requested the kits and are making a difference for our planet. When you request and use your kits, energy is saved. It's as simple as that. We're hoping that by the end of the school year, we will have saved 10 million kWh of energy together. Can we make it?
Until then, thank you again for all of your energy-saving efforts.

SLS Faculty Giving Tree
The SLS Faculty Giving Tree will be offered again this year for those interested in honoring our teachers and staff during the Christmas Season! The Tree will be ready for visitors on November 29, 2016.
Here is how it works.
OPTION 1 (The Tags)
1. The PTO asks each teacher to list some personal and school items that they would like to get. Teachers fill out a wish list.
2. NEW THIS YEAR: While some of the items from the wish list can be found on the bulletin board outside the Kindergarten rooms, most of the items are online at
www.SignUpGenius.com/go/4090A4EABA62DABF49-giving
3. Parents can either access the online list or stop by the bulletin board. The tags will be up until Christmas break.
OPTION 2 (You want to buy for many teachers)
This option is popular for those families that wish to honor several teachers. Using the attached form, select the teachers you would like to honor, and send it back to the office with any amount. This amount will be divided among the teachers that you select. Please make checks payable to "Batesville Chamber of Commerce", as the teachers will receive Batesville Bucks. (This is a change we made several years ago to greatly simplify the process!) Place the form and your check in an envelope marked “Giving Tree” and send to the school office by Friday, December 16th, 2016.
Of course, this program is optional. It is a great way to maximize your gift giving dollars. The teachers get exactly what they want and you save time!! It's a win win! Any questions on the Online Giving Tree, please contact Susan Harmeyer at jsjhzbb@frontier.com. Any questions on the Contribution form, please call Amy Tonges at 812-212-6702.
Thanks for participating in this year's giving tree!

St Louis 6th Grade Basketball Recap
The St. Louis 6th grade Cardinals traveled to Greendale Wednesday, Nov. 16th and came away with a solid win. The Cardinals were forced to play man to man defense and their tenacity payed off with a 34-22 victory. Jack Hollins, Aidan Geers and Frank Forbeck led the charge defensively as the Cardinals held the Tigers to only six second half points. Offensively, the Cardinals were led by Alec Bunselmeier (9), Charlie Schebler (9), Benjamin Harmeyer (7), Cy Muckerheide (5) and Abe Hollins (4).
The St. Louis 6th grade Cardinals played at home against St. Lawrence from Lawrenceburg and came away with a 34-27 win. The Cardinals continued to play good team defense which was key to the win. Leading the defensive effort again were Jack Hollins, Aidan Geers and Luke Meyer. Offensively, the Cardinals were led by Noah Tuveson (13), Benjamin Harmeyer (10), Cy Muckerheide (4), Nate Vankirk (4) and Abe Hollins (3).
The St. Louis 6th grade Cardinals traveled to St. Nicholas Tuesday, Nov. 22nd and came away with a 35-8 win on the nostalgic narrow hardwood floor. The Cardinals controlled the tempo of the game with their tenacious defense holding the host team scoreless in the first and third quarters. All eight players scored for the Cardinals - Noah Tuveson (8), Benjamin Harmeyer (6), Cy Muckerheide (6), Abe Hollins (5), Frank Forbeck (4), Nate Vankirk (2), Aidan Geers (2) and Jack Hollins (2).

St. Louis 7th grade boys basketball
After multiple lead changes throughout the 4th quarter the game was tied after regulation. The first overtime game of the year for the Cardinals turned in their favor early when Vogelsang sank a nice mid-range jumper and Raver added 2 from the free throw line. The conditioning for St. Louis paid off and the defensive onslaught never stopped against the Trojans.
At the end of overtime it was 32-28 in favor of the Cardinals.
The St. Louis 7th grade boys basketball team's perpetual road trip continued at Benjamin Rush Middle School Monday, Nov. 21st but the winning streak did not, losing to the home team Cubs 37-31. The well coached home team had a good combination of size, ball handling and aggressive defense that despite a strong team effort from the Cardinals was the recipe needed to have St. Louis trailing when the clock ran out. Thomas Raver was leading scorer followed by Cody Mohr. Four points each from Abe Streator and Adam Vogelsang. Streator had a good rebounding night fighting off double teams most of the game. CJ Grote, Joseph Suttman and Cayden Pohlman scored bringing the count to 7 Cardinals working on offense and putting points on the board. Kyle Salatin had some good defense stops and valuable rebounds in a game that was a dog fight from the opening tip.
St. Louis 7th grade boys basketball team was on the road Monday, Nov. 28th against South Dearborn and could not secure the victory, losing by their largest margin of the year 41-28. CJ Grote had a good shooting night and led the Cardinals on the scoresheet followed by Thomas Raver, Adam Vogelsang and Cody Mohr. Joseph Suttman and Abe Streator chipped in a couple points and played great defense causing the home team to turn the ball over several times in the 4th quarter to give St. Louis a chance to make up for their slow start.
The Cardinals were home against St. Michael Tuesday evening and took care of locking in the win on their home court Tuesday evening. The young Trojans brought a stingy defense into the Cardinal arena but Thomas Raver had his sights set on making sure St. Louis secured the victory leading in scoring and rebounding. Joseph Suttman, CJ Grote and Cody Mohr each had half a dozen points with Kyle Salatin and Adam Vogelsang each adding two making it 6 Cardinals to fill the scoring column. Great defense by Spencer Mack, Cayden Pohlman and Ryan Reder kept St Michael from putting together any lengthy scoring runs. When time ran out the Cardinals were up 38-24.
Thank you,
Jim Mohr
St. Louis 8th Grade Basketball
The St. Louis Cardinals 8th grade were on the road Thursday night, Nov. 17th as they travelled to play the Trojans of Sunman Dearborn Middle School. This game turned out to be an exciting game for the fans with both teams hitting some big shots and displaying some great defense. In the early going, St. Louis had difficulty scoring but kept themselves in the game by playing some tough man to man defense. The Trojans got a big three pointer near the end of the half giving them the lead 13-9 going into intermission. In the 3rd quarter, St. Louis narrowed the gap and trailed Sunman Dearborn by only two 17-15 at the end of the quarter. In the fourth quarter St. Louis got big buckets from LLeyton Ratcliffe with a strong drive to the basket. Wil Freeland hit a big three point shot and then near the end of the 4th quarter Ben Schebler hit a big time three to put the Cardinals up by 4 with less than a minute to go. However, the Trojans fought back in last minute hitting two free throws and with time running out hit a shot underneath to tie the score and put the game into overtime.
In overtime St Louis got a big basket from Freeland driving baseline and a clutch free throw from Kurt Siefert which turned out to be enough to win as the Cardinals held the Trojans to only one point in the overtime period giving the Cardinals the victory by the score of 26-24.
The scoring for St. Louis consisted of Kurt Siefert with 5, Ben Schebler 6, Riley Schebler 4, Lleyton Ratcliffe 4, and Wil Freeland had 7. The entire team put forth a great defensive effort.
The St. Louis boys 8th grade travelled to Rushville on Monday, Nov. 21st to play the host Benjamin Rush Cubs. In the 1st quarter, St Louis was led by Lletyton Ratcliffe and Wil Freeland along with a very strong defensive team effort which allowed the Cardinals to take a 15-4 lead at the end of the quarter. St. Louis continued their fine play thru the 2nd quarter to build their lead to 29-11 at the half. In the 3rd quarter, the Cardinals got some back to back three’s from Kurt Siefert to help maintain a comfortable lead by the score of 43-21. The Cubs started to get hot in the fourth quarter but the Cardinals got a couple big three point buckets from Jack Abplanalp and Jack Forbeck to keep their opponents at bay and St. Louis went on to win by the score 49-35.
The scoring for the Cardinals consisted of Jack Abplanalp with 3, Kurt Siefert 6, Jack Forbeck 3, Andrew Oesterling 11, LLeyton Ratcliffe 13, Wil Freeland 11, and Sam Voegele had 2 from the charity stripe.
Defensively the Cardinals were led by Sam Voegele and Karson Macke.
The St. Louis Cardinals 8th grade team travelled to South Dearborn Middle School on Monday, Nov. 28th to play the host South Dearborn Squires. The Cardinals came out playing some good solid defense and led after the first quarter 13-4. However, the Squires for South Dearborn also played some good defense and held the Cardinals to only 5 points in the 2nd quarter. The half ended with the Cardinals up just 9 points with the score 18-9. The 3rd quarter was evenly matched as the Squires outscored the Cardinals 12-11 and so going into the 4thquarter the Cardinals lead was trimmed by a point as they led 29-21. Finally in the fourth quarter St. Louis was able to knock down some shots and continued to play solid defense which allowed the Cardinals to pull away from the Squires and win the game by the final score of 43-26.
The scoring for the Cardinals consisted of Ben Schebler with 2, Riley Schebler 3, Andrew Oesterling 13, Lleyton Ratcliffe 5, Wil Freeland 5, and Sam Voegele had 15 for the Cardinals. On defense, Voegele and Ratcliffe played well as they were able to pull in numerous rebounds.
The St. Louis Cardinals 8th grade basketball team played at home on Tuesday against St. Michaels of Brookville. It turned out to be a defensive battle as both teams could not get much going offensively. St. Louis led after the 1st quarter by the score of 8-3. In the second quarter, and led by Lleyton Ratcliffe, the Cardinals offensive production began to pick up as they went into the locker room with a 20-7 lead. The second half saw the Cardinals playing good defense against St. Michaels not allowing the game to get too close. The game ended with the Cardinals winning by the score of 32-21.
The Cardinals scoring consisted of Riley Schebler with 6, Jack Forbeck 3, Andrew Oesterling 5, Lleyton Ratcliffe 15, and Sam Voegele had 3. Defensively the Cardinals were led by Kurt Siefert and Karson Macke. St. Michaels were led in scoring by Cooper Day who had 8 points.

Thanks,
