Part One of Many More to Come

A Soundtrack to My Life by Maggie Haas

First off, I'd like to dedicate this to my family. Y'all are the best. Sarah, Rachel, Luke, and John, you guys bring me so much laughter and happiness it's crazy. Thanks for all of the mean jokes, movie nights, sarcastic comments, sports games, and song duets. Secondly, I'd like to dedicate this to my two precious babies-my cats! You boys are the best things ever. You've been with me every single day of my life and I don't know who I'd be without y'all. Thanks for the snuggles, back massages, and the ear purrs. I would marry both of you if it wasn't so frowned upon. And lastly, I would like to dedicate this to my wonderful friends. Vince, Maddy, Shelby, Anna, Julie, Mackenzie, Carter, Molly, Sabrina, Bethany, Patricia, Melissa, and Barbara-thanks for all of the laughs and for always listening to me complain.

"Home" by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros (5:07)

Rach and I found this song and we sing it ALL the time. We love to sing to each other, even though she's a TERRIBLE singer. Terrible.

"Joy to the World" by Three Dog Night (4:01)

Whenever my sisters and I were in the car with my dad we would always rock out to this song. My dad is quite the rocker. I'm pretty sure this was one of the first songs I knew all of the words to.

"Follow Me" by Uncle Kracker (3:50)

Mom used to tuck me and my sisters in at night. BUT, one night she got into bed before she tucked Rach in-BIG MISTAKE. Rachel had a major meltdown, so me, being the lovely sister I am, sang her this song as I tucked her in that night. I was pretty witty back then....What happened?

"Everytime We Touch" by Cascada (3:35)

They play this song at Duke games! I am VERY excited to call Duke my new home. I'm very excited to see what the next four years hold. Hopefully a lot of Duke wins and Carolina losses.

"Rivers and Roads" by The Head and the Heart (5:03)

I heard this song for the first time at RYLA and I instantly fell in love with it. Such a beautiful song with an even better meaning. I love singing this song at the top of my lungs in the car---even though it never quite sounds as good as the original. It makes me think of leaving my friends next year. Very bittersweet.

"Sigh No More" by Mumford & Sons (3:37)

I love anything Mumford and Sons. Seriously. One of my favorite bands ever. They have such heart. When I'm in a bad mood I can sing the socks off of this song. It gives me hope to hold out for something better. It also makes me grateful for all of the wonderful people around me.

"Stay With Me" by Sam Smith (3:30)

I have the absolute best family in the world. Hands down no competition. My sisters and my two cousins are my best friends. We're all super weird and we just have the best time together. My cousins live in Raleigh, so we don't get to see them that often. Each time we're together, though, we have an unannounced theme song of sorts. We love singing together and we're all SO bad. We went on a road trip together and probably ended up singing this song close to 50 times. My cousin John loves hitting the high notes.........

"Murder in the City" by The Avett Brothers (3:06)

The Avett Brothers. All time favorite bands. They were my first concert and I am completely obsessed with them. Every song they have holds a spot in my heart. The lyrics are beautiful and I love them like family...AND THEY ALMOST KIND OF ARE. They're my cousin's cousins, so YES, I tell every one I'm related to them. This song helps remind me just how important family is.

"To Build a Home" by The Cinematic Orchestra (6:10)

This song gives me chills. Sarah introduced it to be and I immediately went home and listened to it 100 times. I love my Sarah, shes the best role model out there.

"Blue Lips" by Regina Spektor (3:42)

This song is so weird but I love it so, so much. I always end up listening to it while I'm doing homework with my cats on my lap. Actually, I'm really just using this as an excuse to put up pictures of my cats because I am literally in love with them. I would take a bullet for them. They're my best friends and my brothers.

"Make Your Own Kind of Music" by Mama Cass (2:47)

I went through this really big LOST stage. Like it was bad. But this song was on it and when I heard it, I really liked it. It just reminds me to keep on being weird.
Make Your Own Kind of Music ( Mama Cass Elliott )

"Right Back Where We Started From" by Maxine Nightingale (3:06)

Mom used to sing this song all the time while dancing in the kitchen. It was quite a view. But man, do I love my family. They're so important. No one gets me like my seestras do.
Maxine Nightingale - Right back where we started from

"Over My Head" by The Fray (3:59)

Judge me, but this was my first ever favorite song and favorite band. I think I used to think I had actual life problems back then lololol. I'm thankful for those who help cheer me up when I really do feel over my head. Which is a lot because I tend to stress over everything. I have anxiety. Also special shout out to my very best friends Vince, Shelby, and Maddy. You guys hold me together.
The Fray - Over My Head (Cable Car)

"I Lift My Hands" by Chris Tomlin (4:39)

I think one of the biggest blessings in my life was being raised in a Catholic family. I've found a home in The Church, despite a few things I struggle with. I've also found a second family in the friends and mentors I have had the pleasure of getting to know. My youth group friends rock. You bring a light to my life and I am thankful for your friendship. Vince, Anna, Devin, Melissa, Katie, Sarahi, Hannah, and Mia I love y'all.
