Transition to Remote-Only Learning, Effective November 23
Letter from Principal Jane Harmon
Dear Mountain View High School Students & Families,
We appreciate your support and patience as we navigate this continually evolving coronavirus
pandemic and the impact it has on our school and community. I am writing today to let you know that effective Monday, November 23rd Thompson School District will transition back to in-person learning in a remote-only model until January 5th. ILC students will continue to attend five days per week as previously attending. While this is the district plan at this time, the evolving nature of this health crisis will require us to remain flexible as we plan for the remainder of the school year.
Remote instruction on Monday will look the same as it did prior to in-person learning and will follow the same bell schedule. Please remember that attendance each period is required during remote learning. Our bell schedule is attached below. During remote instruction Mountain View High School will be using:
➔ Google Classroom as our main remote learning platform
➔ Google Meets for interactive videoconferencing and the facilitation of synchronous learning
➔ Weekly memos to parents and students to update the learning plan in each class, sent on
Fridays and outlining resources and expectations for the following week.
Please note that teachers will be recording all content-based full class Google meetings for the purpose of allowing students to review content. These recordings are for internal use only and will not be shared with anyone other than students in the class.
If a student is having difficulty connecting remotely on Monday, please read the information below:
PROBLEM WITH THE THING THAT PLUGS IN: If the problem is with the actual device (MVHS
owned Chromebook), please call the Innovative Technology Services Help Desk at (970) 613-7777. If ITS determines that a new device is needed, please contact the MVHS main office at
970-613-7800 or Robin Williams at robin.williams@thompsonschools.org to arrange for an
exchange at MVHS.
PROBLEM UNDERSTANDING WHAT TO DO: If the problem has to do with something the teacher has assigned, please contact the teacher directly.
PROBLEM GETTING SOMEONE TO E-MAIL YOU BACK: If you have reached out to your student’s teacher and have not heard back, please contact me directly.
In closing, we understand how important in-person learning is for our students, staff, and to the teaching and learning cycle. To this end, we will continue to advocate for small group learning opportunities as soon as health and safety conditions permit. Please pay attention to emails coming from our teaching and support staff as these emails will contain important information.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jane Harmon, Principal
