Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)

Mission Statement

Preempt threats and further US national security objectives by collecting intelligence that matters, producing objective all-source analysis, conducting effective covert action as directed by the President, and safeguarding the secrets that help keep our Nation safe.

Main purpose

It gathers information about what is going on in other countries, evaluates it, and passes it on to the president and other foreign-policy decision makers.The CIA uses its own secret agents, paid informers, foreign news sources, and friendly governments to collect such information.

History

The CIA was established in 1947 when president Truman signed the National Security Act. The Founders of the CIA were Dwight Eisenhower, Harry Truman, Allen Dulls and William Donovan. The CIA was established for the nation's intelligence activities and correlating, evaluating and disseminating intelligence that affects national security.

Head of Department

John O. Brennan is the Director of the CIA. He became the director because President Obama nominated him and then was approved by the Senate Intelligence Committee.

The Director of the Central Intelligence Agency serves as the head of the Central Intelligence Agency, which is part of the United States Intelligence Community. The Director reports to the Director of National Intelligence.

Budget and Current issues!

The United States intelligence budget is 49.8 billion dollars.

Some current issues are terrorism, Syria, drugs in the U.S. , and many others.
